MLS Betting – Everything You Need to Know
The MLS, also known as Major League Soccer, is the top football league in the United States of America. One of the most glamorous and fastest-growing competitions on the planet, which has seen legends such as David Beckham, Steven Gerrard, Thierry Henry and Zlatan Ibrahimovic play there, MLS betting is always a thrilling and fun experience.
There are two types of MLS betting:
- Match
- Outright
Match Betting
Match betting covers everything that you can bet on during a game, with bets placed either pre-match (before the match has kicked off) or in-play (after the match has kicked off).
There are literally hundreds of match betting markets for every single MLS game, with some of the most popular ones including:
- Win/Draw/Win
- Both Teams To Score
- Correct Score
- Over/Under Total Goals
- First Goalscorer
- Anytime Goalscorer
Outright Betting
Outright betting covers everything that will happen over the course of the season, with the most popular outright betting market in the MLS being:
- MLS Cup – Winner

MLS Odds
MLS odds are calculated on the probability of something happening.
For example, the odds of New York City FC winning the MLS Cup are much shorter than the odds of Inter Miami, simply because the probability of New York City FC winning the MLS Cup is much higher.
If New York City FC win the MLS Cup after you placed a £10 bet on them to do so at 12/1, you would win £120. But if Inter Miami win the MLS Cup after you placed a £10 bet on them to do so at 150/1, you would win £1,500.
The MLS odds for individual games can often be short, especially when betting on Los Angeles FC, New York City FC or Philadelphia Union, so one way of increasing the odds is through accumulator betting.
More commonly referred to as an ‘acca’, accumulator betting is when you bet on two or more MLS games – betting on five teams is known as a ‘five-fold’ – but combine them into one bet.
Because the odds are multiplied, you’ll win an enhanced amount if all the selections in your acca are correct.
