Scotland and England contest Calcutta Cup

Scotland and England renew rivallries as they continue their Six Nations campaigns when they contestthe Calcutta Cup in what promises to be a highly charged atmosphere at Murrayfield on Saturday.

England, on eight points, are trailling Ireland by two points in second place and Scotland are third with five points. Ireland look a class above so far but this match could go a long way to deciding who finishes behind Andy Farrell’s men.

Scotland

Former Captain Jamie Ritchie is recalled at flanker. Wing Kyle Steyn also returns for the match at Murrayfield and full-back Blair Kinghorn makes his first appearance in this year’s championships.

Scotland: Kinghorn, Steyn, Jones, Tuipulotu, Van der Merwe, Russell (co-capt), White; Schoeman, Turner, Fagerson, Gilchrist, Cummings, Ritchie, Darge (co-capt), Dempsey.

Replacements: Ashman, Hepburn, Millar-Mills, Skinner, Christie, Horne, Healy, Redpath.

England

England make five changes from their victory over Wales George Furbank starts at full-back, with Freddie Steward dropping out of the matchday squad. Centre Ollie Lawrence returns from injury replacing Fraser Dingwall. Scrum-half Alex Mitchell misses out with injury and is replaced by Danny Care. Dan Cole and Ellis Genge are named as the props.

Prediction

Both teams have shown promise in recent months. Scotland have beaten England in their last two Six Nations encounters and their last three matches in all competitions. While Steve Borthwick’s England have developed a reputation for grinding out results, we feel that an improving Scotland side at Murrayfield may well have too much for them. We predict a victory for Gregor Townsend’s men. Scotland to win.
