FA Cup Betting – Everything You Need to Know

The FA Cup is the oldest and most prestigious national football competition in the world. A straight knockout competition, it is open to all clubs in the Premier League and the English Football League, as well as all clubs in levels 1-5 of the National League System.

The “magic of the Cup” is a popular phrase attributed to the FA Cup and is a reference to the competition being unseeded, which means clubs from the Premier League are often drawn to play against teams from the lower leagues. Surprise and upset results, also known as “giant-killing”, occur most seasons.

There are two types of FA Cup betting:

  1. Match
  2. Outright

Match Betting

Match betting covers everything you can bet on during a game, with bets placed either pre-match (before the game kicks off) or in-play (once the game has kicked off).

There are literally hundreds of match betting markets for every single FA Cup game, with some of the most popular ones including:

  1. Win/Draw/Win
  2. Both Teams To Score
  3. Correct Score
  4. Over/Under Total Goals
  5. First Goalscorer
  6. Anytime Goalscorer

Outright Betting

Outright betting covers everything that will happen over the course of the FA Cup competition, with some of the most popular markets including:

  1. Outright Winner
  2. To Reach The Final
  3. To Reach The Semi-Finals
  4. Player Top Goalscorer

More About FA Cup Betting

There are 140 FA Cup games per season, with hundreds of FA Cup betting markets available for each one. So whether it’s a game at Wembley, Old Trafford or Fratton Park, every single kick, header and moment is covered.

It’s always worth placing your bets pre-match, but after the game has kicked off is when FA Cup betting really gets interesting. That’s when it’s time for in-play betting, which allows you to bet on the game as the action unfolds, with the live odds changing in real time depending on what is happening on the pitch.

Traditional match betting markets such as Win/Draw/Win are available in-play, but there are also specific markets that are unique to in-play betting, including popular markets such as:

  2. Next Player To Score
  3. Next Player To Be Carded
  4. Next Team To Win A Corner

FA Cup Tips & Predictions

The magic of the cup – who could ever forget Ben Watson scoring a late winner on as Wigan Athletic beat Man City in the 2013 final or Dave Beasant saving John Aldridge’s penalty as Wimbledon defeated Liverpool in the 1988 final? – means you can never guarantee the outcome of game. And, let’s face it, FA Cup betting wouldn’t be much fun if you could. But you can give your bets the best possible chance of winning by reading our FA Cup tips and predictions, with preview articles published on Betting.com every single day.

FA Cup Odds

FA Cup odds are calculated on the probability of something happening.

The odds of Liverpool winning the FA Cup, for example, are much shorter than the odds of a team like Wigan Athletic. That’s because the probability of Liverpool winning the FA Cup is much higher.

For example, if Liverpool win the FA Cup after you placed a £10 on them to do so at 6/1, you would win £60. But if Wigan Athletic win the FA Cup after you placed a £10 bet on them to do so at 200/1, you would win £2,000.

FA Cup odds for individual games can often be short, especially for matches in the early rounds, so one way of increasing them is through accumulator betting.

More commonly referred to as an ‘acca’, acca bet calculator is when you bet on two or more FA Cup games but combine them into one bet. Because the odds are multiplied, you’ll win an enhanced amount if all the selections in your acca are correct.
