World Cup Tips & Predictions

The World Cup features some of the greatest international teams and players from South America, Africa, Europe, Asia and North America. And while you can never guarantee the outcome of a game – World Cup betting wouldn’t be much fun if you could – you can give your bets the best possible chance of success by reading our World Cup tips and predictions, with preview articles published throughout the tournament on betting.com.

World Cup Odds

World Cup odds are calculated on the probability of something happening.

The odds of France winning the World Cup, for example, are much shorter than the odds of Japan. That’s because the probability of France winning the World Cup is much higher.

If France win the World Cup after you placed a £10 bet on them to do so at 6/1, you would win £60. But if Japan win the World Cup after you placed a £10 bet on them to do so at 250/1, you would win £2,500.

World Cup odds for individual games can sometimes be short, especially during the group stages, so one way of increasing them is through accumulator betting.

More commonly referred to as an ‘acca’, accumulator betting is when you bet on two or more World Cup games – ideal for the group stages – but combine them into one bet. Take advantage of Betting.com’s acca bet calculator to work out your betting strategy fast.

Because the odds are multiplied, you’ll win an enhanced amount if all the selections in your acca are correct.

World Cup 2022/23 Overview

The World Cup 2022/23 will be played in Qatar from Monday 21st November 2022 – Sunday 18th December 2022.

The competition is made up of 32 teams divided into eight groups of four, with the top two teams in each group qualifying for the knockout stages. The two teams who progress beyond the last 16, quarter-finals and semi-finals will meet in the World Cup Final, which will take place at the Lusail Iconic Stadium, on Sunday 18th December.

Five-time world champions Brazil are the pre-tournament favourites to win the World Cup, which would be their first since 2002. Defending champions France, who won the 2018 World Cup in Russia by defeating Croatia in the final, are second favourites. England, who have not won the World Cup since 1966, are third favourites, followed by Spain, Argentina, Germany, Portugal, Netherlands and Belgium.

England captain Harry Kane is the pre-tournament favourite to win the World Cup Golden Boot, having finished as top scorer in Russia in 2018. France forward Kylian Mbappe is second in the betting, followed by Karim Benzema, Lionel Messi, Romelu Lukaku, Neymar and Cristiano Ronaldo.
