Aintree Festival Day 3 Tips
Check out our tips for Saturday, including our racing expert’s choice for the Grand National!
16:00 The Randox Grand National Steeple Chase
Mr Incredible loves this kind of trip and Willie Mullins’ horses generally perform well on soft ground. A second place in the Midland’s National under a huge weight was very impressive and I think it might just be enough to win Aintree’s most famous race. Vanillier is also a contender. Second in this race last year, charging through the field from absolutely nowhere to get to within a couple of lengths of the winner, he is a few pounds better off this year, which should work in his favour. Corach Rambler, last year’s winner, cannot be ignored, neither can I Am Maximus. Nobel Yeats could be a good outside bet.
Tip: Mr Incredible.
17:00 The Maghull Novices’ Steeple Chase
Found a Fifty should be a class above in this field. He was a creditible second to Gaelic Warrior at the Cheltenham Festival with II Etait Temps just behind.
Ti`: Found a Fifty to win.
17:35: The Weatherbys nhstallions.co.uk Standard Open National Hunt Flat Race
Mister Meggit was impressive last time out at Doncaster and is open to even more improvement.
Tip: Mr Meggit to win.
Odds correct at 22:00 on 12.04.24.
Aintree Festival Day 2 Tips
Check out our tips for Friday!
14:55: The Poundland Top Novices’ Hurdle
The beautifully bred Mystical Power was a good second in the Supreme at Cheltenham and can go one better here. The ground and trip will suit.
Tip: Mystical Power to win.
15:20: The My Pension Expert Melling Chase
We are backing the Townend/Mullins combination to come up trumps again with Ocastle Des Mottes.
16:05 The Randox Supports Race Against Dementia Topham Chase
Arizona Cardinal is up in grade here but is very progressive and could rise to the challenge. He has won over this type of distance before and the ground shouldn’t be a problem. Also worth backing each way.
Tip: Arizona Cardinal each way
16:40 The Winners Wear Cavani Sefton Novices’ Hurdle
The Juke Box Man looked to have the race won in the Albert Bartlett last month until he made an error at the last. Harry Redknapp’s horse loves the soft ground and should have enough to win today. Reading Tommy Wrong flopped at Cheltenham, however, if he can reproduce the form he showed in the Lawlors of Nass he should go close.
Tip: The Juke Box Man to win
Odds are correct at 09:00 on 12.04.24. Odds subject to change.
Aintree Festival Day 1 Tips
Check out our tips for the first day at Aintree!
14:55: The Aintree Bowl Steeple Chase (Grade 1)
Shishkin missed Cheltenham due to a health issue as top trainer Nicky Henderson endured a number of problems. Shishkin had been in great form this season, winning last time out and looking for al the world a winner on Boxing Day in the King George before unseating the rider. SHishkin won the Bowl here last year and the ground should suit him. Gerri Colombe looked back to his best when finishing second in the Gold Cup, but, after a hard race, may not be fully recovered.Corbett’s Cross is another contender. However, we think that Shishkin is the one to back.
15:30: WIlliam Hill Aintree Hurdle (Grade 1)
Bob Olinger missed Cheltenham and it appears that this race has been targetted. 2m4f seems to be his optimum distance and his last three races have seen him back to his best. We are backing him to win, and Rachel Blackmore is more than capable of getting the best out of him. The Paul Townend/Willie Mullins combination will challenge with Impaire Et Passe, priced at 6/4.H owever, last time out he was five lengths behind Bob Olinger and we don’t think he will be able to reverse this form.
16:05 :The Randox Foxhunters Open Hunters Steeple Chase (Class 2)
It’s On The Line found only one too good at Cheltenham last month and was a lot of people’s strong choice for the festival. He battled back well at Naas in February and if this race becomes a battle he could be too strong. Top amateur jockey Derek O’Connor is scheduled to ride him, which could make a difference.
