Here are six crazy facts about the Super Bowl:
1. The Super Bowl is the second biggest eating day for Americans (after Thanksgiving)
The food during the Super Bowl is one of the best parts of this day. How much do people eat exactly? Just as an example, about 8 million pounds of guacamole are consumed on Super Bowl Sunday. That’s a lot of avocado!
2. The NFL does not pay bands/artists to perform during the halftime show
You would think that artists and bands would be well paid for such a performance, but no. The NFL only covers costs and production costs but does not pay the performers themselves. Even Beyonce didn’t get a dime to perform at the Super Bowl. What they get is exposure, and lots of it.
Millions of people tune in, often even more than the game itself. After the 2020 halftime show, Shakira’s Spotify streams increased by 230% and Jennifer Lopez’s by 335%. So, the artists still benefit from it quite a lot.
3. 108 footballs for the Super Bowl
Each team gets a lot of footballs, and by a lot we mean 108 total per team. Of these, 54 are intended for training and 54 are intended for the match itself. On average, 120 footballs are used during the Super Bowl, with the rest used by the kickers.

4. 1.3 billion chicken wings
Who doesn’t love a good chicken wing? 7% of this year’s US chicken wing sales come during the Super Bowl. This corresponds to approximately 74 million kg of chicken!
5. Lots of beer
As if it wasn’t enough that this event is the largest single sporting event in the United States, it is also the annual festival of beer, specifically American beer. According to American sources, the people of the United States drank 325 million gallons (1,230,258,830 liters) of beer during the last event.
6. 7 million dollars for a commercial clip
Several US sources have reported that the average price for a 30-second commercial during the 2024 Super Bowl will be $7 million. That’s the same as the cost of a commercial during the 2023 Super Bowl and slightly higher than the price of a 30-second commercial in 2022, which was $6.5 million.
