Tottenham

With 20 points from the opening eight matches, Tottenham top the table ahead of the 9th round of fixtures. The only dropped points came away at Brentford (1-1), and at local rivals Arsenal (2-2). In addition to these matches, Postecoglou’s team have won six matches.

Last season was a disappointment as they failed to reach a place in Europe. In the end, Spurs had to settle for eighth place, one point behind Aston Villa who clinched the final European Cup spot.

Tottenham’s last match was a 1-0 away win at newly promoted Luton Town, despite being a man down for more than half the match. At the end of the first half, midfielder Yves Bissouma was sent off – after a tackle earned him a second yellow card. After dominating the first half, the goal came at the beginning of the second half.

Ahead of Monday’s meeting with Fulham, manager Postecoglou will be without Yves Bissouma (suspended), Manor Solomon, Brennan Johnson and Ivan Perisic (all injured). However, there is hope that the trio of Ryan Sessegnon, Hugo Lloris and Rodrigo Bentancur will again be available for games.

Son Heung-Min is top scorer with six in eight games. Summer signing James Maddison has two goals and five assists,

Fulham

After a postive season last time round Fulham have more or less lived uop to preseason expectations. The Cottagers are in the middle of the table after three wins, two draws and three losses.

Before the derby against Tottenham, Fulham have a victory in their bag against Sheffield United.

Performances in the Premier League have been a bit up and down for Marco Silva’s side. They started the season by defeating Everton away with 1-0, then there was a 3-0 loss at home against Brentford.

In the following game, Fulham picked up a point in the difficult away game against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium. Against Manchester City, however, Fulham had no chance and had to see themselves defeated by a clear 5-1.

In the last four Premier League matches, there have been two wins: Luton and Sheffield United at home, a loss against Chelsea at home and a draw, away against Crystal Palace.

There are currently three players on Fulham’s injury list: Kenny Tete, Adama Traore and Tosin Adarabioyo. Closest to play is Adam Traore, who is expected back in a couple of days. However, Tosin Adarabioyo looks set to be out until mid-December.

Prediction

Tottenham have really had a great start to the season. Ange Postecoglou who had great success with Celtic, Yokohama and the Australian national team, has made a great early impression. His fast, attacking style of football seems to suit Tottenham very well.

Fulham have shown earlier in the season that they can disrupt the top teams. 0-0 against Arsenal away commands respect and you should also bear in mind that Fulham defeated Tottenham in the English League Cup on penalties at the end of August.

Tottenham are clear favorites with the betting companies and should probably be as well. Fulham haven’t won away to Tottenham since 2003 and most likely won’t this time either. Home win.
