Tiger Woods completed a strong first round with a 2 under par first round at the Genesis Invitational at the Riviera Country Club in Los Angeles on Thursday.
Woods was making his PGA return after struggling with serious leg injuries sustained in a car crash in February 2021. The 15 time major champion’s last competitive round came at the Open Championship last July where he failed to make the cut. His only appearances in 2022 apart from that also came in Majors, The US Masters and the US PGA.
Woods, 47, is five strokes behind the leaders Max Homa and Keith Mitchell, level with Xander Schauffele. He ended his round with three successive birdies in his first non-major PGA event since October 2020. Woods now has a realistic chance of making the cut, which would be a great start to his latest comeback.
Genesis Invitational Odds
Paddy Power have Woods down as a 300/1 outsider to win, while Vbet rate him as 4/9 to miss the cut.
