Mac Allister red card rescinded

Liverpool’s Alexis Mac Allister had his red card overturned after a successful appeal. The 24-year-old Argentine midfielder was originally shown a red card and given a three-match suspension for a challenge on Ryan Christie’s foot in the 58th minute in the 3-1 victory against Bournemouth on Saturday at Anfield.

Jurgen Klopp, the manager of Liverpool, commented that the decision was “harsh.”

Following Liverpool’s appeal, the Independent Regulatory Commission of the Football Association decided to rescind the suspension.

The Football Association stated, “An independent regulatory commission has revoked Alexis Mac Allister’s three-match suspension following a claim of wrongful dismissal.”

Match of the Day presenter Gary Lineker took to social media to label the red card decision as “nonsense.”

Mac Allister will now be available for selection for Liverpool’s match against Newcastle United st St James’ Park on Sunday. Therefore bettors assessing Liverpool’s chances against the Magpies should be aware that the World Cup winner is likely to start or, failing that, be used as a substitute by Klopp.
