Arsenal come into this fixture after two defeats, one in the FA Cup to Manchester City and the other an unexpected loss last weekend at Goodison Park. However, they welcome Brentford to the Emirates as one of only two teams, Newcastle United are the other, to be unbeaten at home this season.

Brentford are unbeaten in nine Premier League matches after last weekend’s win over Southampton. They sit in seventh place in the table, just six points behind fifth-placed Tottenham Hotspur with a game in hand and one below Brighton & Hove Albion, although the Seagulls have played one game fewer too.

This fixture has developed into something of a grudge match in recent years and is referred to some as the “M23 derby”.

Crystal Palace are still looking for their first win in 2023. By contrast Brighton are looking to extend their unbeaten start to the New Year to seven matches. The Seagulls are flying high, and are genuine contenders for the European places.

Leeds United host Manchester United at Elland Road, just four days after a pulsating 2-2 draw at Old Trafford. A rearranged fixture threw up this mini series between the two old rivals and we can expect a feisty and entertaining match.

Managerless Leeds produced a much improved performance on Wednesday.  They will have been pleased to gain a vital point to aid their struggle against relegation against one of the country’s top sides. However, having been 2-0 up they may feel that they let a great opportunity for three points against their Roses rivals slip. The Red Devils will see it as two points dropped, though at 2-0 down there will be an element of relief to have salvaged a point. Despite their recent cup successes Erik ten Hag’s side only have one win in their last four Premier League games.

Pascal Struijk is a big doubt for Leeds after picking up a head injury at Old Trafford while Luis Sinisterra was also forced off early on. Marc Roca and Liam Cooper are pushing for recalls with Rodrigo Moreno and Adam Forshaw still out.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka could be back for the visitors after illness kept him out of the 2-2 draw. Antony also sat the game out, but there is no comeback date set for the Brazilian following a leg injury. Christian Eriksen, Scott McTominay, Anthony Martial and Donny van de Beek remain out with Casemiro suspended.
