Predictions

The Eredivisie is The Netherland’s biggest football league and it brings some of the most exciting and unpredictable footballing action in the world. Major sides include Ajax, Feyenoord and PSV, with the trio well-known across the footballing world. While the strength of the Dutch sides in Europe is not quite as impressive as it once was, the fans are treated to a very competitive league.

Football Betting Tips for Eredivisie 2022/23

Giants of Dutch football Ajax have generally been the team to beat in the league, with the current Eredivisie champions boasting a massive 35 titles in their history, including six triumphs since the 2010/11 season. Ajax’s dominance has been such that they have moved 11 winners medals clear of PSV Eindhoven in second.

As mentioned, PSV (24 titles) are the second-best team in the league regarding titles won, while Feyenoord have 15 crowns. The Eredivisie winner market is generally quite an interesting race then, with Ajax usually the favourites but, with Feyenoord and PSV no slouches when it comes to winning the title. If you can nail your choices at the right time then you can get very good odds in this market as Ajax will generally be the team most fancied, giving you the chance to bet against the major favourites.

Who are the best bookmakers for the Dutch Eredivisie?

As one of the most popular leagues in the world, the Eredivisie has a very impressive array of bookmakers that you can choose to bet with. However, of all of these bookies, we would recommend 10bet and William Hill the most. The pair offer a massive range of markets for the majority of the games in the league, while their competitive odds, excellent customer offers an array of excellent features help to ensure they are the go-to bookies for Eredivisie betting.

Previous Season Recap

Perhaps the biggest change for the 2021 Eredivisie season was the introduction of an extra sub, in case of a suspected concussion. You can consider Ajax defending champions here, even though the title from the 2020 season wasn’t officially awarded to anyone. Ajax, as always dominated from start to finish, with a mind-boggling goal difference of +79.

PSV and AZ Alkmaar were right on their heels in the beginning, but couldn’t muster anything closer than a 16 point gap in the end. Utrecht and Vitesse were relatively good, while Feyenoord had a noticeable drop in form, which caused them to finish 5th.

When it comes to relegation, ADO Den Haag, VVV-Venlo, and Emmen were the unfortunate clubs to be relegated. Emmen were particularly unlucky, as goal difference sealed their fate despite being level with RKC Waalwijk at 30 apiece.

Notable transfers

Ajax definitely had a lot of work to do, but they somewhat filled the holes in their team by acquiring Steven Berghuis from Feyenoord. Mohamed Daramy arrived from Danish Superligaen champion FC Copenhagen for just under 10 million, which is a bargain price for such a quality youngster.

Feyenoord, on the other hand, had a much busier summer transfer window. They signed a lot of their youth team members to professional contracts, in addition to adding the likes of Reiss Nelson, Guus Til, and the Molde duo of Marcus Holmgren Pedersen and Fredrik Aursnes.

As for the winter transfer window, Ajax had to sign 35-year-old Przemyslaw Tyton as a third option in goal, mainly because Onana is in the worst form of his career. David Neres was sold to Shaktar Donetsk for a fairly high price, but there is a chance the transfer gets voided because of the current situation.

Another good deal we’ve noticed was Nasser El Khayati joining Willem II until the end of the season. The legendary midfielder will definitely bring some much needed creativity into the Tilburg side’s ranks.

Which Teams are Favourites to Win Dutch Eredivisie 2022/23

Ajax

As previously mentioned, Ajax is the team to beat in the Eredivisie. 25 titles see them tower over the competition, and their ability to grind out wins and play supreme football is incredible. They come into the current league season following a commanding showing in the 2020/21 iteration of the competition after storming to the league title with a 16-point cushion between themselves and PSV in second. An incredible 28 wins came alongside just two losses and four draws, while the 102 goals scored and 23 conceded was a supreme showing. It will be interesting to see whether any side can get close to Ajax and whether anyone is brave enough to bet against them in the Eredivisie predictions.

PSV Eindhoven

Despite the fact they finished 16 points short of Ajax at the top of the league last season, the 2020/21 campaign was an exceptionally impressive one for PSV. Just four losses all season came alongside 74 goals scored, 35 conceded and 21 wins. Indeed, their performance would have likely had them at the top or far closer to the number one spot in most other leagues.

Their wait for their 25th league title seems to have gone on for a lifetime though, with their last triumph in the 2017/18 season feeling like a long time ago now due to the sheer level of dominance Ajax have been enjoying. Are they the squad to back in the betting to be the top team this time, or would it be foolish to bet against the favourites in Ajax?

Feyenoord

Historically the third-best team in the Eredivisie, Feyenoord have picked up 15 league titles in their history, but they have not won the league since the 2016/17 season. Indeed, they struggled massively last year, eventually finishing fifth, meaning they were 29 points short of Ajax at the top. 16 wins was a pretty decent showing, and the 64 goals they scored shows they can give teams real trouble when they attack.

However, their inability to get close to Ajax is a worry for bettors, and it would take a brave punter to back the side to break up the domination that Ajax are enjoying right now. Of course, they are the type of side that you should pair with expert betting tips as, if they seem like they are hitting form at the right time, then perhaps they could be real dark horses to win the league.

Which Teams are in Danger of Relegation?

There are a number of teams that you should keep your eyes on when betting on relegation. At the time of writing, NEC Nijmegen look like a side that could be in real trouble after taking a 5-0 hammering at the hands of Ajax in their season opener. Of course, it is very early to start touting them for relegation, but the 27% of the ball they saw along with just one shot on target in 90 minutes is very worrying. Indeed, things could have been far worse for them after falling 5-0 down inside 39 minutes, and they were only excused a bigger humiliation by the fact Ajax really took their foot off the pedal.

Willem II is another side that we already fear after they were forced to endure a similar humiliation to NEC in their opening game. A 4-0 loss to Feyenoord was compounded by a 59th minute sending off for Emil Bergstrom, and it seems as though they are yet to learn the lessons of the 2020/21 season, where they only just managed to maintain their Eredivisie credentials, picking up 31 points, thus avoiding a relegation play-off by a single point. If the side does not find a way to win consistently soon, we feel they may be in real trouble in their fight against becoming a relegated side, and our expert tips will not likely be kind to them.

Eredivisie players to keep an eye on this season

Ajax’s Dusan Tadic continues to impress in the Eredivisie, and he was on the scoresheet twice in the opening match of the season. 14 goals last time out constituted a very impressive campaign for the Serbian, and if Ajax are to excel once again, then we feel Tadic will be at the heart of it. The tricky and intricate play-style of Tadic has proved vital in Ajax’s impressive run, while he has been toying with defences in the Champions League in recent years too, and he is our player to keep an eye out for when it comes to the Eredivisie’s top players.

We also like the look of Ajax’s Davy Klaassen too. The Ajax attacking midfielder has been in fine form throughout his time with the side. While he did struggle when playing for Everton in the 2017/18 season, he was in good form with Werder Bremen (12 goals in 69 appearances), and he has excelled with Ajax, scoring 12 in just 29 matches. As far as the best players to bet on goes, Klaassen is right up there as one of Eredivisie’s top players.

Which Bookmaker Bonus is Best for my Dutch Eredivisie Bets?

The bonus that you choose to utilise should be one that you know you will make the most out of. If you are a novice bettor, you may want to avoid the acca insurance or matched deposit bonuses as they can quite often be confusing to use. For a more experienced bettor, you may want to look for a bonus that provides more value, especially if you have a bigger bankroll to play with.

Of all of the bonuses we have seen available right now, we really like William Hill’s new customer offer. Their bet of £10 get £30 is extremely easy to use and provides good value for what is a fairly standard investment. You will simply need to sign up and deposit £10 and then William Hill will credit you with £30 in free bets to use, it is that simple.
