Sweden the early front-runners
Sweden are favourites to win Eurovision with the popular song contest due to take place in Liverpool on May 13.
The Scandinavians are 4/9 to come out on top in this year’s Eurovision and are represented by Loreen, who will be singing Tattoo at the M&S Bank Arena. Loreen will be aiming to win the prize for a second time, having triumphed for Sweden in Baku in 2012 with the song Euphoria.
Sweden’s Scandinavian neighbours Finland (9/4) are seen as their closest rivals with Cha Cha Cha, by the rapper Käärijä.
Last year’s winners, Ukraine, are 15/2 in the market to retain the title in 2023 with Heart of Steel, performed by Tvorchi. The United Kingdom, hosting the event on Ukraine’s behalf, are 40/1 to go one better than last year and claim victory with Mae Muller and I Wrote a Song after Sam Ryder finished second in Turin with Space Man.
Other countries who are expected to perform well in the competition this year include France (15/2), Spain (16/1) and Norway (20/1).
Markets available
There are lots of different markets to bet on throughout the 2023 Eurovision Song Contest, including picking the region that will produce the winner.
Top ‘big five’ country odds
The so-called “big five” Eurovision nations are Spain, France, the UK, Germany and Italy, who are the biggest financial contributors to the European Broadcasting Union, which stages the show. You can get odds on who comes out on top from these five heavyweights.
Top Nordic country
You can also bet on the top Nordic country in this year’s Eurovision Song Contest, with favourites Sweden a very short-priced 4/9 to finish top of the Nordic pile.
Top-five finish
It’s not just the outright winner you can bet on; you can also place bets on the ‘top five’ market, in which some of the countries at longer odds in the outright winner market are still at good-value prices to finish in the first five. For example, Ukraine are 11/10 to finish in the top five of this year’s Eurovision Song Contest as opposed to 15/2 to retain their title.
Tip: Armenia, Greece & Poland All To Qualify – Was 15/8 now boosted to 9/4, William Hill.
