Palace set to part ways with Hodgson
Crystal Palace could be on the brink of parting ways with manager Roy Hodgson, amid a challenging season that sees the team languishing in 15th place in the Premier League table, just five points clear of the relegation zone. With only three wins in their last 19 games, Hodgson’s tenure has come under intense scrutiny.
The frontrunner to replace Hodgson is former Eintracht Frankfurt head coach Oliver Glasner, who has been without a job since departing Eintracht at the end of the 2022-23 season, despite having a year left on his contract. Glasner’s achievements at Eintracht, including winning the Europa League and reaching a DFB-Pokal final, have positioned him as a top contender for the managerial role at Crystal Palace.

The decision to cancel the pre-match press conference, scheduled for 1:30 pm (GMT), due to Hodgson falling ill during morning training, adds to the uncertainty surrounding the club. Palace’s recent performances, including a 3-1 home defeat by Chelsea and a humiliating 4-1 loss to arch-rivals Brighton & Hove Albion, have amplified calls from some supporters for Hodgson and chairman Steve Parish to step down.
Hodgson, who is in his second stint with Crystal Palace, previously managed the club from 2017 to 2021. He returned in March 2023 on a short-term contract, eventually signing a one-year deal last summer after steering the team clear of relegation.
Glasner’s managerial pedigree includes successful spells at Eintracht Frankfurt and Wolfsburg, where he achieved notable accomplishments in domestic and European competitions. His potential appointment signals a new chapter for Crystal Palace as they seek stability and improvement in the Premier League.
Palace’s next match is a trip to Everton in the Premier League on Monday evening.
