Nigeria and Ivory Coast meet in final

Nigeria will meet hosts Ivory Coast in the Africa Cup of Nations final. The Super Eagles had largely swept all before them, however, in the semi-finals Jose Peseiro’s side were pushed all the way by a determined South Africa. The Ivory Coast sacked their manager, Jean-Louis Gasset after they looked to be heading towards elimination in the group stage. However, under replacement Emerse Fae, they managed to scrape through as best third placed team before beating Senegal, Mali and DR Congo.

Nigeria

Victor Osimhen was declared fit for the semi-final with South Africa after abdominal problems had threatened to sideline him. He appears to have thrown this off and should also be fit for the final. Left -back Zaidu Sanusi (hamstring) missed the semi-final and faces a late fitness test.

Ivory Coast

Serge Aurier, Odilon Kossounou and Oumar Diakite will all be available again after suspension. Sebastien Haller is set to lead the line and will be joined by Nicolas Pepe or Max Gradel will be competing to join talisman Haller.

Prediction

This looks as though it will be a tight game. We think that Nigeria get the victory.
