Favourite Novak Djokovic dropped only three games as he swept into the Australian Open men’s singles quarter-finals. In-form Coco Gauff and 2022 champion Aryna Sabalenka progressed to the last eight of the women’s singles.

Imperious Djokovic sets up Fritz clash as Rublev comes through epic
Top seed Djokovic advanced confidently to the quarter-finals of the Australian Open after a commanding victory over French 20th seed Adrian Mannarino. Djokovic, in pursuit of his record 25th Grand Slam title, dominated with a 6-0, 6-0, 6-3 win in just one hour and 44 minutes. Expressing satisfaction, Djokovic described the first two sets as the best he has played in a while.
The 36-year-old Serbian will face 12th seed Taylor Fritz in the quarter-finals, who secured a victory over last year’s finalist Stefanos Tsitsipas. Meanwhile, Italy’s Jannik Sinner secured his quarter-final spot with a 6-4, 7-5, 6-3 win over world number 15 Karen Khachanov. Sinner, considered one of the favourites to challenge Djokovic, is set to face fifth seed Andrey Rublev in the next round after Rublev won a tough five-set match against Alex de Minaur.
Gauff and Sabelenka advance
On the women’s side, Gauff made history by becoming the youngest woman to reach the Australian Open singles quarter-finals since 2008. The 19-year-old American advanced by defeating Poland’s Magdalena Frech with a score of 6-1, 6-2. Defending champion Sabalenka also progressed with a 6-3, 6-2 victory over Amanda Anisimova. Sabalenka is scheduled to face ninth seed Barbora Krejcikova in the quarter-finals, who made a comeback to beat Mirra Andreeva 4-6, 6-3, 6-2.
Gauff and Sabalenka are on track to potentially meet in the semi-finals, setting the stage for a rematch of their encounter in the US Open final. Gauff, yet to face another seed, will play against Ukraine’s Marta Kostyuk in the next round.

Australian Open Betting
At the time of writing, Djokovic remains favourite, priced at 20/21 with bet365. Carlos Alcaraz is second favourite at 12/5 ahead of Sinner, 4/1, Daniil Medvedev, 15/2, with Rublev and Alexander Zverev both at 22/1. Fritz is at 66/1. Sinner and Medvedez represent reasonable value for each-way bets.
