Liverpool saw off Aston Villa in their return to Premier League action to keep pace in the race for the top four.
Jurgen Klopp has also received early positive news in the transfer market with Cody Gakpo on his way to the red half of Merseyside.
Former Liverpool manager and current Leicester boss Brendan Rodgers is in a less favourable spot. The Foxes remain a bottom half team after their 3-0 loss at the hands of Newcastle.
Where Gakpo is something of a luxury for Klopp, Rodgers is in dire need of January reinforcements as Leicester aim to pull away from the bottom three.
Total Goals: Over 3.5
There has been over 2.5 goals in 10 of 15 for Liverpool and 10 of 16 for Leicester. The 4/9 price on over 2.5 is not worth backing here. Instead, over 3.5 is the way to go.
Liverpool’s back line again looked shaky against Villa.
Like all teams under Rodgers’ stewardship, Leicester will play an open match at Anfield, committing men forward in possession and likely allowing Liverpool space with the ball. With a lot of attacking talent on show and limited faith in the defences, there’s value here.
Anytime Goalscorer: Darwin Nunez
Darwin Nunez continues to miss chances, and has been on the receiving end of plenty of criticism.
From a betting perspective, though, it is crucial that Nunez continues to get goal-scoring opportunities. His record with Liverpool remains decent, even if it is grossly overshadowed by the achievements of Erling Haaland.
Against a Leicester defence which was torn apart by Newcastle a few days ago, there is definitely value on Nunez at this price.
Both Teams To Score: Yes
Both teams have scored in Liverpool’s last four league matches.
Leicester, for all their struggles in 2022-23, have averaged two goals per match on the road and have found the net in every away fixture this term.
In a match where goals are expected, this seems a very reasonable price for BTTS to land.
