City see off Terriers to stretch lead at top
In a commanding display, Leicester City secured a resounding victory over Huddersfield Town, strengthening their position at the summit of the Championship table with a 10-point lead. Tom Cannon, the young striker acquired from Everton in the summer, shone in his first start for the Foxes, scoring his inaugural goals for the club.
Cannon opened the scoring with a powerful half-volley from the edge of the penalty area just five minutes before halftime. The exciting prospect Cannon, who had previously netted eight goals on loan at Preston, showcased his scoring prowess and potential impact on Leicester’s promotion campaign.
The Foxes, under the management of Enzo Maresca, have now claimed eight victories in their last ten games, amassing an impressive 65 points from 26 matches. Meanwhile, Huddersfield, despite the loss, remains above the relegation zone, maintaining a four-point lead over 22nd-placed QPR, who suffered a defeat at the hands of Cardiff. Leicester City’s stellar performance positions them as strong contenders for promotion and potential record-breakers in the Championship.

Ipswich, promoted from League 1 last season are second favourites at 12/1 ahead of the two sides relegated with Leicester last season, Southampton and Leeds United, both priced at 14/1. The same four clubs lead the betting for promotion, however, only two automatic spots are available. Bettors need to look at the form of the leading sides to predict who will stay the course when making outright picks. The Championship is a notoriously gruelling league and much can change in the next few months.
