Deauville based horse looking to make an Impact

At the time of writing Ace Impact is the favourite to win on October 1. The three-year-old is trained in Deauville by Jean-Claude Rouget and is unbeaten in five runs. Hukum, Continuous, Feed the Flame, Westover and Emily Upjohn are also contenders.

Ace Impact

Ace Impact made it five career wins from as many starts with victory in the Prix Guillame D’Ornano at Deauville last time out. While the horse is installed as favourite, the manner of his latest victory did not impress some pundits, making victory for Ace far from a foregone conclusion. The Rouget trained horse is now expected to miss the Group 1 Irish Champion Stakes and go straight to the Group 1 Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe.

Hukum

King George winner Hukum has 11 wins from 17 career starts. After victories over Desert Crown and Westover this season, the six-year-old Owen Burrows trained horse is ready to go up against Europe’s best in the Arc. He must have a chance of winning in Paris.

Continuous

Continuous’ odds have been cut considerably following his triumph at the St Leger Stakes. Many punters are now backing the Aidan O’Brien trained colt to come up trumps again in Paris. The Japan-bred colt gave O’Brien a seventh success in the Doncaster showpiece with Ryan Moore onboard. He had marked himself out as a prime contender for the final Classic of the season with victory in the Great Voltigeur at York.

Feed The Flame

Feed the Flame returned to form with a late run for home to deny Adelaide River and Soul Sister in the Grand Prix de Paris over 12 furlongs. If the going on the day is a little soft he could have a real chance.

Westover

Sixth in Paris last year and a close second behind Hukum in the King George at Ascot, Westover must be a contender for the Arc. Quick going would suit the Ralph Beckett-trained four-year-old.

Simca Mille

Simca Mille easily won the the 133rd Grosser Preis von Berlin to announce himself as a contender. An interesting outsider to back.

Free Wind

Was rated as an outsider but her odds are now coming down after Detorri appears to be considering being onboard her for his final tilt at a seventh win at the Arc. Free Wind’s most recent outing was a close second in the Group 1 Yorkshire Oaks last month. This performance was given further kudos when winner Warm Heart followed up in the Prix Vermeille at Longchamp.

Fantastic Moon

Fantastic Moon, under the guidance of German trainer Sarah Steinberg, soared into contention for the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe with a comprehensive victory in the Qatar Prix Niel at Paris Longchamp. He is not currently entered, however, his team are thinking of adding him if the going looks as though it will be good. If he is added, and the ground is not soft, he could be a contender.

Prediction

Ace Impact is the current favourite. At the time of writing bet365 are offering 7/2. Hukum, Feed the Flame, Westover and Emily Upjohn cannot be ignored. Fantastic Moon could be a late addition to the field after a superb win on Paris Longchamps in the Qatar Prix Niel. News that Dettori could switch to Free Wind from stablemate Emily Upjohn puts the Yorkshire Oaks runner-up into the mix.

It does, however, look like a win for Ace Impact, but Free Wind, if she is ridden by Dettori would be a good each-way shout.
