Kvistgaarden on brink of Celtic move
  • Brondby reject first bid but recent talks positive
  • Striker keen on move
  • Rodgers keen to boost firepower

Brondby’s 21-year-old striker, Mathias Kvistgaarden, is on the brink of joining Celtic as transfer talks near a positive conclusion. The Scottish club has pursued Kvistgaarden, and sources suggest that an agreement between the clubs is almost final, with a fee of approximately £4 million likely for the young Danish player.

Brondby reject first bid but recent negotiations positive

Earlier reports had indicated that a bid from Celtic had been rejected by Brondby, where Kvistgaarden is contracted until 2027. However, recent negotiations have shown progress, and the player is reportedly enthusiastic about making the move to Celtic’s Parkhead stadium.

Kvistgaarden’s performance history is impressive, having notched up six goals and six assists in just nine matches during the Danish championship. Although Carsten Jensen, Brondby’s director of football, initially stated that the move wasn’t planned, he acknowledged ongoing transfer activities, encompassing both incoming and outgoing players. Jensen noted Brondby’s focus on refining the squad’s size and composition.

Rodgers looks to develop treble winners after stuttering start

Celtic’s manager, Brendan Rodgers, discussed the challenges of enhancing the team after a successful season. He expressed optimism about securing more signings before the transfer window closes, acknowledging the heightened pressure and expectations following a treble victory.

Should the reported agreement come to fruition, Kvistgaarden’s addition could significantly bolster Celtic’s attacking capabilities for the approaching season. Celtic-s last couple of games have brought disappointing results. They crashed out of the Scottish League Cup to Kilmarnock before being held to a draw by St Johnstone. Rodgers’ side failed to find the net in either game so the former Leicester boss is keen to add more firepower to his squad.

Rodgers’ Celtic work in progress but Kvistgaarden could add to goal threat

Punters should be aware that Celtic are not firing on all cylinders this season. Anyone betting on the Old Firm match at Ibrox needs to weigh this up. Looking longer term if Kvistgaarden settles then the Hoops’ attacking options could be boosted which will have a positive impact on the Scottish champions domestically and in Europe.
