Football Betting Tips for Polish Ekstraklasa Season 2022/23
We at Betting.com always take a scientific approach to betting, and this competition is no exception.
But how does the league look nowadays? Well, 18 sides will compete in the league this season. Previously, there was a 16-team format, but both club and league officials wanted to expand the talent pool once again. The Ekstraklasa title certainly feels great, but everyone knows why Polish clubs vie for that spot. Champions League qualification, of course.
There’s so much more to this league, though. And in this particular guide, we intend to show you everything. Whether it’s knowing how to find the highest odds or what are the best Ekstraklasa bookies, you’ll be well-prepared when all is said and done. So, if you want to give our Polish Ekstraklasa betting tips a go, continue reading and arm yourself with all the knowledge you need. Let’s go!
This current season has already made a profound effect on Polish Ekstraklasa predictions. Even though we always recommend taking a look at the stats, it almost seems like this league is a new competition every year. For instance, the current 2nd placed team, Lech Poznan, finished 11th last season.
And it just so happens that Lech is perhaps the biggest feel-good story of the 2021/22 season. The main reason for this is their strong transfer window. Instead of going for washed-up veterans, the club instead opted for a much more methodical approach. In a league sometimes known for its failed big-time transfers, Lech is a breath of fresh air. Their quality philosophy and scouting are bound to pay off. Our Polish Ekstraklasa betting tips give them a pretty decent chance to win, but anything is possible at this point.
Another hot topic around the league is the downfall of Wisla Krakow. The Ekstraklasa mainstays were involved in a series of controversies and had significant amounts of debt. While they did escape going into administration and getting their license revoked by the PFA, they’re going to have a hard time staying up.
There’s also a lot going on in the mid-table section, too. Wisla Plock and Piast Gliwice have been decent, even though Wisla suffered three defeats in a row a couple of weeks ago. Both teams aren’t that far from the top 5, so everything is a possibility.
Who are the best bookmakers for the Polish Ekstraklasa?
There is no shortage of bookmakers to choose from when it comes to Poland football betting. You will find that the best bookmakers offer great bonuses and pay out especially well for big wins.
Previous Season Recap
Despite some disruption caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2020/21 Ekstraklasa season proved to be an exciting one.
Legia Warsaw claimed the title with a 5-point gap to 2nd place Raków Częstochowa who, along with Pogoń Szczecin and Śląsk Wrocław, qualified for Europe.
Although Legia Warsaw were crowned champions of the 20/21 Ekstraklasa season, the team had a rocky start to last season as by matchweek 6 they found themselves in 9th position, but eventually picked up the pace. Tomáš Pekhart scored 22 goals to claim the golden boot and help his side to the title.
Notable Transfers
Reigning champions Legia Warsaw sold full-back Josip Juranovic to Celtic for a tidy profit but reinvested some of that money in Lirim Kastrati, a right-winger from Dinamo Zagreb. This wasn’t a big splash, but it certainly made a dent in existing Polish Ekstraklasa predictions.
Raków Częstochowa had a moderately successful transfer window as they parted ways with the promising centre-back Kamil Piatkowski but replaced him with Zoran Arsenic. Meanwhile, attacking midfielder Valeriane Gvilia joined Legia Warsaw on a free transfer.
Lech Poznań have also made the most of the transfer window as they bolstered their attacking options through the introduction of right-winger Adriel Ba Loua. Pedro Rebocho arrived from Guingamp to replace Tymoteusz Puchacz who left for FC Union Berlin.
Which Teams are Favourites to Win Polish Ekstraklasa 2022/23
Lech Poznań
After a poor showing last season in which they finished midtable, Lech Poznań look to have set things right this time around. Last season’s underachievers started this campaign without defeat in seven and are leading a charge for the title. There is unquestionable quality in their ranks and should they keep up this form, they may even win the whole thing. However, Pogon and Rakow have proven to be fierce rivals. Sure, Lech may be 2nd, but we could easily see them anywhere between 1st and 5th.
Raków Częstochowa
Raków Częstochowa finished in 2nd position in the Ekstraklasa table last season, so most Polish Ekstraklasa betting tips didn’t see them competing for the title time around. The loss of Kamil Piatkowski during the transfer window was thought to be a decimating one, but Rakow easily continued where they left off. A balanced attack, plus some stellar performances by their CBs is exactly why they’re in 3rd place now. Do Polish Ekstraklasa betting tips have them as favourites? Yes, so keep an eye on them.
Pogoń Szczecin
Pogoń Szczecin made the most of last season as they finished in a very respectable 3rd position with a sizable gap of 9 points to Śląsk Wrocław in 4th. Notably, Pogoń Szczecin lost centre-forward Adrian Benedyczak to Parma for €2 million, but a strong early start saw them suffer just one defeat in seven games. This excellent formed continued into this season, with the Szczecin sitting on top of the table.
Lechia Gdańsk
Surprised to see Lechia here? Well, our tipsters were too. Even though the Gdansk side had a lot of success in the past, they’re still not the top dog in Ekstraklasa. Still, they’ve managed to remain in the race after 25 games played. And because it’s such a close race to the finish, all it takes is one mistake from Pogon, Lech, or Rakow for Lechia to usurp the top spot. All of our Polish Ekstraklasa predictions have them as the top dark horse candidate.
Which Teams are in Danger of Relegation?
Wisła Kraków
No one expected the 14-time Ekstraklasa champions and 4-time Polish Cup winners to be this disastrous. Until last season, that is. Debt and all kinds of criminal activities have led the former giants to the brink of extinction. This was a drama many years in the making, culminating in a 13th place finish in 2021. Even this year, despite some smart transfer work, they are top candidates to drop down. 6 wins in 25 just won’t cut it, so most of our Polish Ekstraklasa betting tips view them as prime relegation candidates. Sad, really.
GKS Górnik Łęczna
Having been recently re-promoted to the Ekstraklasa, Górnik Łęczna are struggling to compete in the top-flight once again. They’re like the Polish version of Fulham or Norwich – too good for the lower leagues, but not good enough to brave the top flight. With just 24 points in 25 games, they are in a fierce relegation battle with Nieciecza and Wisla. However, Gornik just might start the 2023 season in the Polish Division I. They’ll need a miracle to survive.
Bruk-Bet Nieciecza
One of the three freshly-promoted sides, Nieciecza was predicted to struggle game in, game out. And it turns out that many of our Polish Ekstraklasa predictions turned out to be true. They’re bottom of the league, with no clear path to salvation. The only thing working for them is the fact that there are just 10 points between 10th and 18th. If one of their relegation comrades starts slipping up, and Niececza hits a stride, we wouldn’t put it past them to survive. However, as of matchday 25, they’re the most likely club to get dumped out of the Ekstraklasa this year.
Ekstraklasa players to keep an eye on this season
Prediction for Top Goalscorer
Iván López Álvarez
Rakow’s talisman is on fire this season. After spending time in lower-league Spanish clubs most of his career, Ivi Lopez found the form of his life with the Częstochowa side. His 12 goals and 6 assists in 22 matches are a big reason why Rakow still hasn’t fallen off. The Ekstraklasa golden boot race is very tight now, with 5 players scoring ten or more goals. Rakow is definitely going to need Ivi as they’re gunning for the crown. Our Polish Ekstraklasa betting tips give him a decent chance of beating the other forwards in the league.
Mikael Ishak
The current no.9 striker for Lech Poznań, Mikael Ishak joined last year and has so far grabbed a total of 22 goals from 44 appearances for the club. 12 of those goals came during the 2020/21 season where the Swede secured a joint 3rd place finish in the top goalscorers table. He’s a dangerous attacker, who can slither into the box without half the defence noticing it. A prime candidate for Ekstraklasa’s top goalscorer, wouldn’t you say?
Karol Angielski
Quite possibly the best Polish player in the league, Angielski is a threat no matter where he is. Inside the box, from the penalty spot, or even free kicks – you name it, the Radomiak striker has it. His creativeness played a big role in reaching 11 goals for the season, in a solid 25 matches. With no signs of being injury-prone, there’s no reason why this talented player can’t fend off his rivals and score the most goals.
Prediction for Top Assister
Damian Kądzior
Kadzior has been, without a doubt, one of the best playmakers in the entire league. With 8 assists to his name, the youthful-looking right-winger has what it takes to be the best assister in the league. However, his Piast Gliwice teammates are going to have to step their game up and score the goals delivered by Damian. Even though he’s currently the leader, there are a couple of players ready to knock him off.
Iván López Álvarez
Yup, it’s Ivi Lopez again. The engine behind Rakow is not only the contender for the top goalscorer but Polish Ekstraklasa predictions also have him as the potential top assist man. This goes to show that the Spaniard is in top form. However, his 6 assists will make life miserable for opposing defenders. And given Rakow’s current placing, we believe Ivi will continue with his rampage without any issues.
Flávio Paixão
The 37-year old centre-forward certainly isn’t playing at a level usually expected of someone his age. With 6 goals and 7 assists, he is the driving force behind Lechia Gdanska. Whether it’s setting teammates up or finding solutions to difficult predicaments, you can count on him. That’s why most Polish Ekstraklasa predictions have him as a top pick for this category. He’s been fairly injury-free, so don’t expect any consistency-related issues.

Polish Ekstraklasa 2022/23 Overview
This is season is a dream of every punter! We have everything, from former giants facing crises to underdogs confirming their contender title. Wisla Krakow is certainly the biggest story, due to the aforementioned crises they’ve faced.
After a landmark decision by the PFA, they were able to retain their license and live to see another day in the top tier. But they, along with Nieciecza Górnik Łęczna, probably won’t see past this season. Legia Warsaw is also quite disastrous, but they’re still safe in 12th place.
Even though the bottom and the mid-table will be tightly contested, we also believe this is one of the most exciting title races we’ve ever seen. Pogon and Rakow are surprisingly strong this year, with Lech Poznan refusing to relinquish their dreams of hoisting the trophy.
