2024 Masters Tournament Preview

Result: In a rare happening, Scottie Scheffer, the overall favorite, proved why he was, winning the 88th Masters in a runaway, finishing 11 under par, to second place’s 7. Last year’s champion Koepka and Rahm finished t-45th, behind Mickelson’s (+8) at 43rd. Tiger Woods (+16) finished just over the cut, taking 60th place.

Understanding The Masters: The Breakdown

If you’re new to golf, here’s how it works. The Masters is one of four major championships in pro golf, and the only one to be played at the same location each year. Even if you’re unfamiliar with the fairway, you may recall seeing legends like Tiger Woods or Arnold Palmer strutting a clubhouse-shaped trophy and particular green jacket. Inaugurated in 1934 by golf legend Bobby Jones and the Augusta National Golf Club, some would argue that the Masters has become the most prestigious competition in professional golf. Players play for a 1-of-1 jacket, a to-go trophy, their name on a bigger trophy, and upwards of $3,000,000 for coming in first.

The Masters has the smallest field of the Major Championships, usually between 85 – 100 players. There are no alternates and no qualifying tournaments. Invitations are largely issued automatically to players who meet established criteria. Others are selected by a private committee for exemplary performance, usually to foreign players. A very precise criteria ensure only top talent and established greats compete at Augusta.

Masters’ Selection Criteria

The Masters Tournament rolls out the green carpet for a select crew. The Previous Masters’ Champions receive a lifetime invitation to go with their green jacket. The rest of the field is rounded out by winners from the other major championships and PGA tour, the current Olympic gold medalist, leading amateur champions, and the top 50 leaders of the Official World Golf Ranking from the previous calendar year. Betting The Masters 2024

There’s more to betting on The Masters than picking an outright winner, well, at least closer to the actual tournament. Once we’re about a week out, users will be able to find their favorite Golfing and Masters props. There are multiple types of futures and props you can bet on during The Masters.

Master 2023 Review:

Last Masters, Jon Rahm, etched his name into Masters history as the fourth Spaniard to dawn the green jacket, coolly carding a three-under-par 69 in the clutch for a total 276 (–12), leaving Brooks Koepka and Phil Mickelson disappointed by four strokes… much like my ex-wife. Koepka, eyeing his fifth major title, had a two-shot lead going into the final round but stumbled with a 75, sliding into a tie for second. Meanwhile, Oldman Mickelson, at 52, turned back the clock with a strong 65 (–7), vaulting into a tie for second and setting a record as the oldest top-five finisher in Masters lore. Tiger Woods was forced to withdraw from the 2023 Masters during the third round due to reaggravating an injury.
