Tampa Bay Lightning @ Toronto Maple Leafs Game 7 2022 NHL Playoffs Predictions & Preview

Tampa Bay Lightning @ Toronto Maple Leafs Game 7 2022 NHL Playoffs Predictions & Preview

There is absolutely nothing better than a Game 7 in the Stanley Cup Playoffs, and we have one set to take place in Toronto on Saturday night. The Maple Leafs will host the Tampa Bay Lightning in what should be a thrilling contest.

Tampa Bay is the two-time defending Stanley Cup champion, and the Lightning are a tough team to defeat. The Lightning kept their season alive with an overtime win in Game 6 at home on Thursday night.

Toronto came into this series as a slight betting favorite, but they have missed out on some great chances to win this series. The Lightning have failed in the playoffs before, but they have a chance to finish this thing off at home.

The Toronto Maple Leafs are slight betting favorites in Game 7 as the moneyline odds are at -125.

Time For Vasilevskiy to Lead Tampa Bay

Andrei Vasilevskiy has led the Tampa Bay Lightning to two straight Stanley Cup titles, and he is always capable of stealing a game. Vasilevskiy has had an up and down series up to this point, and the Lightning are going to need his best effort.

Even though the Lightning are scoring 3.5 goals per game through the first six games, they still aren't as explosive as the Maple Leafs. Tampa Bay will need to slow down the tempo on Saturday night and take advantage of power play opportunities.

Nikita Kucherov leads the Lightning with eight points so far in the playoffs, and Victor Hedman has chipped in with seven points. Tampa Bay has plenty of veterans that know how to score in big games, and that experience will play a role in this matchup.

Matthews, Marner Leading Maple Leafs

Auston Matthews and Mitch Marner have combined for 15 points for the Maple Leafs in the playoffs, and those two players have to lead the way. Matthews had 60 goals during the regular season, and he has the ability to score every time that he has the puck on his stick.

Special teams' play hurt the Maple Leafs in the Game 6 loss as they gave up a shorthanded goal and a power play goal in the third period. Toronto wants to score, but they are also a team that held teams to less than 2.8 goals per game during the regular season.

There is a lot of pressure on goaltender Jack Campbell to step up and lead the Maple Leafs, but he is going to need some help. Campbell just gave up the game-winning goal in Game 6, and an early goal from Toronto could take some pressure off.

Toronto Takes Care Of Reigning Champs

This has been a highly entertaining series as the two teams have been trading off wins every single time out. That would mean that it is time for the Maple Leafs to get back in the win column, and the crowd in Toronto will be ready for this game.

This has been a series that has featured plenty of offense, but things should tighten up a bit since this is Game 7. The final outcome will be just one single goal, and the home team will get the decisive goal in the third period.

It's hard to believe that the Lightning will be out after just one round, but that will be the case.

Bet the Toronto Maple Leafs -125 as they bounce back at home and end the reign of the Tampa Bay Lightning.
