The Philadelphia 76ers visit the Miami Heat on Saturday at 19,600–seater FTX Arena for a key Eastern Conference matchup. We break down the key storylines and betting tips.
Philadelphia has rediscovered its mojo over the past few weeks, riding the play of Joel Embiid to a string of solid wins. In a tight Eastern Conference playoff race, the visitors have a real shot of climbing into the top four.
Miami continues to scrap its way to impressive wins despite missing Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo, including recent victories over the Phoenix Suns and Atlanta Hawks. But the Embiid matchup appears problematic here and we’re leaning towards the 76ers.
If there is one silver lining from the Heat’s run of rough injury luck, it is the play of Tyler Herro, who is making a significant leap as a scorer and playmaker. He had 33 points in the win over the Suns and will be asked to lead the way again here.
Omer Yurtseven has been a pleasant surprise too as a presence in the paint, but he will have his hands full against Embiid. Expect plenty of double teams as Miami tries to force others to make the big shots.
While Embiid has been making 30–point nights seem routine lately, it is still tough for the 76ers to win without contributions from their supporting cast. But keep in mind that Philadelphia has played its best basketball on the road this season, where they are 15–8.
Expect a better outing from Tyrese Maxey as he works his way back after a stint in the health and safety protocols, while Shake Milton (back) could be available for Doc Rivers on Saturday.
