Chicago Fire vs. FC Cincinnati / MLS 2022 Predictions & Preview

Chicago Fire vs. FC Cincinnati / MLS 2022 Predictions & Preview

The 2022 MLS season is getting hotter, and we can feel the heat as we enter week 11 of the showdown. Los Angeles FC remains at the top, and we continue to see them fight week-in and week-out. The season is still, and a lot can change with each game week. The goal is to get into the playoffs for a chance to win the MLS championship.

This week our focus is on the game between Chicago Fire and FC Cincinnati as they battle it out for another round of three points. Anything short of three points wouldn’t do much for both teams. Therefore, it’ll be an exciting battle for the fans as we expect an end-to-end encounter.

It’s a game between two teams having very different seasons. One is close to the playoff zone, while the other is wallowing at the bottom of the log. However, this’ll be an exciting game, even though they’re far apart on the table. Check out these sports betting sites when making your MLS bets.

Match Predictions

As we go into this matchup, we expect some exciting gameplay as both teams will go all out to find a win. However, we believe Chicago Fire will maintain its pragmatic shape and won’t attack all fronts from the get-go. Therefore, it’ll be a somewhat tricky game for FC Cincinnati.

Even though both teams are looking to take all three points, we don’t see them scoring many goals. Therefore, we think the first team to score would win the match, and we predict that FC Cincinnati will snatch a slim victory. Therefore, our pick is in favor of the visitors. Chicago Fire Overview

Five games out of 10 played at home, and the team has only won one game. However, they’ve also only lost one, leaving them with three draws and six points. As a result, their home form has been terrible so far. They’ve only scored four goals in their five home matches. And the only good takeaway is their defensive work rate, as they’ve only conceded three goals at home.

Overall, their defensive work rate isn’t bad compared to teams around them. They’ve conceded only eleven goals in 10 games, putting them among the best defensive sides. However, they’re not having a good season as they’ve got 10 points from 10 games. As a result, they’re only three points from the bottom.

A win might push them up the table and push them to start challenging for a playoff spot. However, they’d need to stay in shape if they want to be competitive. Zero wins in the last seven isn’t a good look, and if they aren’t careful, they’ll go down the table.

Coach Erza Hendrickson needs to find a way to instill discipline in his team because they don’t seem coordinated in the past few matches. They haven’t received four red cards in the last five league matches, including the two against New York Red Bulls, which led to their loss.

FC Cincinnati Overview

It’s been a rollercoaster season for FC Cincinnati. Currently sitting 9th on the log, Cincinnati can make it to the playoffs. Although the season still has a long way, they can make it far. However, every three points count. Therefore, the goal is to win as many games as possible. And the next challenge is against Chicago Fire.

The team has some interesting stats as they’ve garnered 16 points from 11 games with five wins, one draw, and five losses. However, they’re lagging in the goals department, given they’ve conceded 17 while scoring only 14 all season. If they want to stay in the playoff zone, they need to improve in the goals department.

However, the team is pretty solid away from home. FC Cincinnati won three, drawn one, and lost two in their six away games. In addition to that, they’ve collected 10 points from a possible 18, making them a top-four team for away records. However, the goals scored and conceded are quite poor.

Players like Brandon Vazquez, Luciano Acosta, and Júnior Moreno remain key to the team's success. Also, Pat Noonan will hope that other team members will step up to support Vazquez to score more goals. And he’s got to find a way to make his defenders remain tight to ensure they concede less.
