Huddersfield v Fulham (Monday 5th November, 8pm kick off) – Betting Preview

Last updated: 01 Nov 11:15

Remember, remember, the 5th of November…

It could well be the game that either sees Huddersfield actually score a goal, or for Fulham to do the impossible and keep a Premier League clean sheet. Here’s the reasons why I’m skeptical of either event, despite both occurring at the same time being a mathematical impossibility:

Huddersfield have scored a measly five goals in their last 14 Premier League games. That seems bad – and it is – but when Fulham come to town there’s always plenty of goals on offer.

Cardiff City were struggling for goals in the opening eight games, scoring only five times, but the arrival of Fulham at the Cardiff City Stadium saw them spank four goals past the west Londoners. Catch my drift? The Terriers will surely muster some chances against this Fulham side, and it’s hard to see past them scoring over 1.5 team goals at a generous 11/10 with Paddy Power.

Fulham may well be struggling to keep teams out, but they’re having a much easier time of it when it comes to scoring goals of their own. The Cottagers are the second-highest scorers in the Premier League’s bottom half with eleven goals, so we really should see both teams scoring at odds of 7/10 with William Hill – which I think is a touch overpriced.

A draw would be no good for either side, but you get the feeling that both these sides are so bad at the moment that neither of them could contrive to put together a performance deserving-enough of a victory. Huddersfield are winless all season, and quite frankly haven’t looked like winning for months, while Fulham’s only Premier League victory – a 4-2 victory over Burnley in August – feels like a long time ago. A stalemate in this one looks like the smart bet at 12/5 with Betfair.

Both sides desperately need a victory to get their seasons up and running, and that should see some attacking intent from two sides that aren’t shy from giving it a go, despite their contrasting goal tallies. It should be a lot of fun, and a draw that sees both teams score looks like a profitable way to finish off your weekend of football at odds of 7/2 with BetVictor.

Premier League Treble: £10 on Everton (to beat Brighton), Leicester (Cardiff) and Watford (Newcastle) returns £95 with Coral.
