Finally the day has arrived! The tip today has to come from the home of National Hunt horseracing. The tip runs in the Champion Hurdle which is due off at 3.30. My selection is Nichols Canyon.
The tip has won 6 Grade 1 previously and in a very open race I think can lead from the front and put the other under pressure from the off. This should bring the mare Annie Power’s speed into question and in turn her jumping. I think she is better over a longer distance and has only been supplemented for this race due to Faugheen’s untimely setback and the fast pace likely to be set by Nichols Canyon will upset her jumping rhythm.
The New One is another likely candidate but I believe that age is catching up with him and the younger horses will be a tad too sharp for him. The same can be applied for My Tent or Yours who also has a lengthy period off to overcome.
Identity Thief is my likely selection to follow Nichols Canyon home. They have run against each other previously most recently the RyanAir Hurdle over the Christmas period at Leopardstown. Obviously there is an argument that the going suited Nichols Canyon and with the ground drying out all the time it will be interesting if the tip and Identity Thief ping the last hurdle together and start up the Cheltenham Hill.
As always good luck
