Another Ayr Bronze Cup Annihilation for Punters?
The Ayr Bronze Cup is no Punters friend. The event has only been around since 2009. In that time only Jack Dexter in 2012 at odds of 5/1 has been a winning favourite.
25 runners go to the post on Friday for the latest running of the event. The 6f sprint is likely to take place in heavy going with Thursday’s racing having been abandoned due to parts of the course being waterlogged.
This may yet see some of the declared runners pulled out at short notice so odds may be subject to Rule 4 deductions.
Fahey to win Ayr Bronze Cup Again?
Richard Fahey currently has 6 runners entered for the Ayr Bronze Cup. The Yorkshire based trained has won the event previously in 2009 and 2011.
Tatlisu has run 3 times in the last 3 months and has not disgraced himself on 2 of those and certainly puts himself in the mix.
Boundsy comes into the race in great form having not been out the first 2 in his last 5 races. My slight concern is that all of those runs have come on Good or Good to Firm and he may struggle on the Heavy going.
Khelman beat stablemate Tatlisu when they previously met at Ayr in July over 6f on Goof to Soft and interestingly has won in the past on heavy going.
Grandads World is another who I think may find the going a touch too heavy.
Other Ayr Bronze Cup Contenders?
Last years winning training trainer Mrs Marjorie Fife has a major contender in the race again this year in Adam’s Ale. His only 2 wins recently have both come on soft going and he certainly seems to like a bit of give in the ground.
She is also sending out B Fifty Two who is another who seems to perform better when the word “soft” appears in the going title. Although I feel this race may be slightly beyond his scope.
Tip of The Day
My tip of the day is KHELMAN E/W.
Various bookmakers offer different terms and I have managed to get on at 5 places offering 1/4 odds
