Congratulations to Taylor, Djokovic and Vettel in what was a packed week!

The 2013 World Grand Prix of darts has just drawn to a close and with it another exciting tournament is over. Phil ‘the Power’ Taylor pulled out an impressive 6-0 victory against first-time finalist Dave Chisnall but never seemed to be struggling as he did.

Chisnall was the underdog going into the final but bookies had shortened his odds after a quarter-final upset had left defending champion Martin van Gerwen knocked out the tournament prematurely.

With 20 out of the 32 darts players being English, an all-English final was never off the cards, and we even had an all-English semi-final too where Taylor knocked out Wade 5-1 and Chisnall beat Pipe 5-2. Don’t feel too bad for Chisnall though, he does walk away with a Runners-Up prize of £40,000 for his efforts and the bragging rights for knocking-out the defending champion and reaching his first final.

Today also marked the end of the 2013 Shanghai Rolex Masters which saw Novak Djokovic beat Del Potro and scoop over $700,000 in prize money. Perhaps the only major absence from the tournament was our home-grown Andy Murray who was forced to withdraw to recover from his back-surgery but we hope to see him back fighting for his place soon enough.

The final event of the day was in Motorsports and marked the 15th round of the 2013 season – of course – it was the Japanese Grand Prix! Sebastian Vettel stole victory after Mark Webber unsuccessfully switched to a three-stop strategy that backfired and left him ruining his choice and finishing second. Vettel is now just one race away from winning the title and just needs to make the top 5-spots in India next to do so. Exciting times readers.

Stay tuned for more updates as the month continues at the one and only
