Best Sportsbooks To Bet On Eredivisie

There are plenty of sportsbooks to use to wager on the Eredivisie, though not all Eredivisie betting sites are created equal. These sportsbooks are considered the best to use for betting on the Dutch first division, as they offer features and betting markets that go above and beyond their competition.

Eredivisie Previous Season Recap

Last season, Ajax won their second straight title, capitalizing on their standing as Eredivisie betting favorites to blow the rest of the field away in 2020-2021. Ajax finished the season with 88 points, scoring 102 goals and giving up just 23. They finished 16 points and 40 goals ahead of the PSV side with the second-best goal difference in the league.

What’s so impressive about Ajax’s season was the balance with which they were able to attack. No player on their roster scored 15 or more goals last year, even with the team scoring more than 100 goals on the campaign. Only one of their players was a Top 10 goal scorer in the Eredivisie, which made it very hard for opposing defenses to key in on one particular player.

PSV finished second and earned the other Champions League spot from Eredivisie. The anticipated runners-up in the Eredivisie betting markets had a solid season, losing just four matches out of 34. But with Ajax having the kind of season they did, PSV had no choice but to settle for the second spot even though they played well from start to finish.

There were three teams relegated from the Eredivisie a season ago, with ADO Den Haag, VVV-Venlo and Emmen being dropped to the Eerste Divisie. Den Haag and Venlo were relegated automatically as the bottom-two teams in the league, while Emmen lost the relegation playoff to be sent down. Emmen finished the season on 30 points, the same amount as the final team to secure safety in the league, but finished behind 15th place RKC Waalwijk on goal difference.

Summer 2021 Transfer Window Recap

The transfer window in this league isn’t as full of marquee signings as leagues like the Premier League and La Liga. However, there are some moves that could shake up the Eredivisie betting markets each year as teams make small improvements or take small steps back that can add up. This past transfer season was no different in the Eredivisie as teams looked to bolster their squads.

One of the major moves to come in the transfer window came in the form of a move away from the Eredivisie. Denzel Dumfries was moved from PSV to Inter Milan in a move that weakened the runners up from last season. Dumfries scored three goals in December for Inter, and his move away from the second place team in Holland’s top tier will be addition by subtraction in the favor of the Eredivisie betting favorite Ajax.

Another notable transfer came in the form of Steven Berghuis moving from Feyenoord to Ajax, in another move that benefits the reigning champions. Berghuis scored in double figures in each of the last four seasons for Feyenoord before moving to Ajax, making them an even stronger favorite in the Eredivisie betting markets. As is typically the case in club soccer, the rich got richer in this move.

Winter 2022 Transfer Window Recap

The transfer window has the potential to shake up the balance of power in the Eredivisie each season, as teams have the opportunity to add to their lineups to compete in the race for the title. The winter window was a quiet one in the Eredivisie, though, as teams were content to go into the late stages of the season with largely the same rosters they went into the first half of the year with.

A couple of upper echelon Eredivisie teams did scoop up some players cast off by elite teams in other parts of Europe. Feyenoord grabbed Philippe Sandler from Manchester City, while Ajax picked up Mohamed Ihattaren from Juventus. There is no reason to believe these players will make an immediate impact with their new clubs, but it is possible that they develop into something down the road.

This winter should not have done much to change the trajectory of the title race in the top soccer league in the Netherlands. But long term, there could be bigger waves made by the transactions that took place in January and February.

Who are Favorites to Win Eredivisie this Season?

The overwhelming favorite to win the Eredivisie this season is Ajax of Amsterdam. They’re on pace to score even more than they did last season when they smashed the 100 goal barrier. Ajax are seen as the runaway favorite in outright Eredivisie betting markets, and the way they are playing certainly justifies that designation this season.

Behind Ajax as an Eredivisie betting favorite is PSV, who’ll look to overcome some of the positive moves that Ajax made in the transfer market. PSV still has plenty of talent, including one of the top assist producers in the league in Cody Gapko. The question for PSV, though, is whether or not they can keep up with the ruthless attacking Ajax is known for.

Outside of Ajax and PSV, there aren’t any teams really worth backing in the Eredivisie betting markets this year. Feyenoord is off to a good start this season, but they’re likely to regress at this point, while there are no other teams all that close to the top two in the standings.

If you’re not interested in betting on the two favorites to win the league, you may be better off looking for value in single-game markets instead. Otherwise, barring serious injuries, you may be better off throwing money away than betting on someone else to take the title.

Who is in Danger of Relegation?

The relegation race should be interesting for the most part this season, as Eredivisie betting markets will be tricky to predict when picking which teams are set to face the drop. There’s one exception to that, as Zwolle looks like a strong contender to end this season with a trip to the Eerste Divisie. Zwolle won just one match out of their first 18, as they’ve been anything but a Dutch delight in the 2021-2022 campaign.

The rest of the relegation picture is a lot less clear, as it’ll be hard to pick a team to be relegated among the rest of the group in Eredivisie betting odds. Teams like Fortuna Sittard, Sparta Rotterdam and Waalwijk are among the contenders to drop down to the Dutch second division after this campaign. However, the difference between the relegation spots and the middle of the table is still pretty slim and it’s hard to count out anyone beyond Zwolle at this stage.

Outright Predictions for Eredivisie 2021/22

When it comes to outright Eredivisie betting predictions for this season, it’s hard to go against Ajax to finish atop the league. They managed to add some top-level talent from some of their competition, while some of the biggest threats to their current run at the top of the league had to sell impactful players. Ajax should be able to keep rolling through the Eredivisie and claim their third straight title while they also focus on Champions League competition.

The only real competitor to Ajax from an Eredivisie betting perspective is PSV, who did manage to pull ahead of Ajax in early January as the second half of the season began. The problem is the Eredivisie season isn’t decided in January. Given the superior depth and talent on both the attacking and defensive ends of the pitch, Ajax should be able to get back in front, but PSV may be worth a look as a plus money play.

Players to Keep an Eye on in Eredivisie this Season

Dušan Tadić is the number one player to keep an eye on when watching Eredivisie and doing your Eredivisie betting.

Tadić is arguably the best player in this league, as he’s a Top 10 player in the league in both goals and assists. He’s able to create for both himself and his teammates, which makes him such a unique weapon not just in Eredivisie, but in soccer in general.

Sébastien Haller of Ajax is another player worth watching from the top club in Dutch football. The Ivorian has scored goals wherever he has gone, as he’s spent time in France, Netherlands, England and Germany in his career with success at all of those destinations. Now, he’s playing at a high level for an Ajax side that’s simply overflowing with weapons at this stage.

One of the more exciting things about Eredivisie betting is that there aren’t a ton of household names in the league in the eyes of the casual soccer fan. But what the league lacks in star power, it more than makes up for in quality, as players like Bryan Linssen, Jesper Karlsson and Loïs Openda are among the top scorers in the league despite lacking the fanfare they may deserve.

How do we Provide our Expert Picks for Eredivisie?

When it comes to providing Eredivisie betting picks, the most important thing we do is putting in the work to understand how each team in the league operates. Our expert Eredivisie handicappers watch each team in this league on the pitch, identifying what they do well and what they don’t. That allows us to provide you with picks that spotlight matchup advantages or disadvantages, which can spotlight value in the Eredivisie betting markets.

We also thoroughly evaluate the statistics for each team before recommending any Eredivisie betting picks. Numbers usually don’t lie in sports and sports betting, and we look at everything from basic statistics to in-depth metrics that detail how teams have been performing and how they’re expected to perform in the future. This approach allows us to provide you with Eredivisie picks backed by legitimate data rather than pure speculation.

Our Eredivisie betting experts also have an in-depth knowledge of each roster in this league, including the players who come off the bench. Injuries and squad rotations can make betting on this or any soccer league a challenge. But an understanding of which players can make an impact off the bench consistently can help identify hidden gems in the marketplace each match day.

While it should go without saying, our handicappers are also proficient in not being prisoners of the moment. They’re able to zoom out and look past a hot streak by one player or one team in order to handicap based on who those entities are over a larger sample size.

Best Sportsbooks that Cover Eredivisie Games

Plenty of betting sites offer Eredivisie betting action, but some of those sites are better than others. Here, we’ll go over some of the best sportsbooks offering action on matches in Eredivisie. With select sportsbooks offering high quality features or a superb reputation, these sites are likely to meet your needs as well as those of most bettors.

Fanduel Sportsbook

Fanduel Sportsbook offers one of the more feature-rich experiences in Eredivisie betting, as they offer several interesting ways to wager on the Dutch top-flight. You can use their same-game parlay feature on Eredivisie matches, an excellent option because most sportsbooks don’t offer the ability to parlay props in the same match in this league. Combine same-game parlays with regular promotions that can be used on the Eredivisie and FanDuel is a strong option.

Caesars Sportsbook

Another Eredivisie betting site worth taking a look at is Caesars Sportsbook. They’re no strangers to offering a nice array of exotic markets ahead of soccer competitions, thanks to their century-plus of time operating in Europe as William Hill. That applies to the Eredivisie here in the United States, along with the rest of the soccer leagues they offer action on.

Sportsbook Promo Codes and Best Bonuses for Eredivisie

The best Eredivisie betting promotion available comes from FanDuel Sportsbook, which offers a risk-free bet worth up to $1,000 on your first wager. At FanDuel, you can place your first bet for up to $1,000 and keep the profits if the bet wins. If the bet loses, however, you’ll be reimbursed with free bets in the amount you put on your first wager on the site.

Another elite promo to be used in Eredivisie betting comes from BetRivers. They offer a 100% bonus on your first deposit with the site, with a maximum bonus amount of $250. When you make your first deposit at BetRivers, they’ll match it dollar for dollar up to that amount, doubling the amount that you will start out with in your bankroll before you place a bet.

All You Need to Know about Eredivisie Betting

Now that you’ve got an understanding of what to look at on the field in the Eredivisie, as well as which sportsbooks to use, it’s time to break down the mechanics of Eredivisie betting itself. Knowing how the betting odds work, what to bet on and how the competition itself functions are essential to turning a profit in this or any soccer league. Here, we’lll go over those items and more to help you learn some important components to wagering on the Dutch first division.

Eredivisie Odds and Betting Lines

Understanding how betting odds work is essential to betting on sports, as they determine how much you stand to win from each wager. There are two types of betting odds in the Eredivisie and other leagues: odds with plus prices and odds with minus prices. The plus prices show the amount you will win if you put $100 on that market, while the minus prices show the amount you need to bet to win $100.

For example, let’s say there are two different betting odds available on Eredivisie matches at -120 and +120. At -120 odds, you would need to wager $120 in order to win $100 on that bet. At +120 odds, a bet of $100 would yield a profit of $120.

It should be noted that you aren’t required to bet exactly $100 on any sporting event. You can bet more or less than that to try to win an amount proportional to what you’d get if you had bet $100 or to win $100. That flexibility is important to remember when you decide how you’re going to manage your bankroll based on your individual budget.

Compare Odds for Eredivisie

One of the most important things you can do while taking part in Eredivisie betting is to compare the odds at each sportsbook to one another. Just like you’d compare the price of a pair of sneakers at multiple stores between buying them, comparing the odds at multiple betting sites can save you money in the long run. This is one of the more underrated sports gambling strategies, and one you should make work in your favor.

For example, you may see odds of -110 and +110 for the same team in an upcoming Eredivisie match. At -110 odds, you’d have to risk $110 to win $100, while +110 odds would require a $100 bet to win $110. At those odds, it’d be a no-brainer to bet on that team at +110 odds if you felt compelled to wager on that squad.

In the above example, taking the more favorable price would result in a lower risk amount by $10, with a potential for an extra $10 won. That total of $20 in added value may seem like a small amount, but over the course of tons of wagers, finding those small differences can have a huge impact on your overall profits.

How do we Generate our Eredivisie Odds?

The Eredivisie betting odds we generate come from comparing betting odds across a list of legal sportsbooks throughout the United States betting landscape. In doing so, we’re able to recommend the best odds for each wager we recommend. That means the maximum profits possible on the Eredivisie picks that we recommend, while we also save you the time of comparing the odds for yourself.

Moneyline Eredivisie Odds

The moneyline in Eredivisie betting is a betting market where you’re tasked with predicting the outcome of each game in the Dutch top-flight.

There are three options to bet on in the moneyline market: for either team to win the match or for the match to end in a draw, which gives new meaning to “going Dutch.” If the match ends in a draw, bettors who wager on either side to win will have their bets graded as losers.

Moneyline betting applies only to the 90 minutes plus stoppage time that occurs in a game. There are no extra time or penalty shootout wins available during regular season play in the Eredivisie.

Eredivisie Over/Under Odds

The over/under betting market is one where the goal is to determine how many goals are scored in a match.

Here, Eredivisie betting sites will post a total number of goals for the match. You’re then able to bet on whether you think the combined score from both sides will be higher or lower than that amount.

For example, a sportsbook might post an over/under total at four goals for an Eredivisie match given the attacking-friendly nature of the league. Your task would then be to wager on whether you think the total score of the match would be higher or lower than that amount. Three or fewer goals in the match would result in an under, five or more goals would result in the over hitting, while four goals on the nose would yield a push and all bets being refunded.

How does Eredivisie Work?

The Dutch Eredivisie consists of 18 teams each season, with teams playing home and away matches against every other side in the league. Those 17 home and away games add up to 34 total matches, where teams earn three points for each win, a point for a draw and zero points for a loss.

At the end of the season, the team with the highest point total is the winner of the Eredivisie. On the flip side, the two teams with the lowest point totals are relegated to the Dutch second division. The team with the third lowest point total must try to protect its spot in the league in a playoff to avoid relegation themselves.

Teams and Venues

There are 18 teams in the Eredivisie that compete throughout the Netherlands. Here is a list of the teams that currently make up the league’s membership, along with their home stadiums where they hope to put together enough wins to earn the title, or at least avoid relegation.

Eredivisie Trophy

The Eredivisie trophy goes to the team with the highest point total at the end of each season. It’s a large silver plate, one that looks similar to a trophy after a major tennis tournament rather than a soccer championship trophy. Either way, the trophy has been made by De Tingieterij since the 1985 season.

After Ajax won it in 2021, they melted the trophy down and made small stars out of it. Those stars were then distributed to their supporters to give them a memento from the club’s second straight Eredivisie title.

COVID-19 Status

COVID-19 is something that can be disruptive both in real life and in the sports we love. If matches are postponed, it’ll have an impact on Eredivisie betting as well as the schedule of the season itself. There aren’t current plans to move the Eredivisie schedule around due to COVID, but there’s always the possibility that changes if the number of cases in the Netherlands increases in the near future.

Interesting Facts About Eredivisie

  • The league was founded in 1956
  • The most trophies – Ajax 35 titles
  • Ajax, Feyenoord, and PSV – never relegated

The Dutch Eredivisie was founded in 1956, with roots dating back as far as the late 1800s, and has been in operation for over 60 years. Over the course of those years, Ajax has won 35 titles, meaning they’ve won more than half of the championships in the history of the Eredivisie. It’s ranked as one of the top eight leagues in Europe according to UEFA’s club soccer league rankings.

The North Sea Flood of 1953 was a significant contributing factor to the league’s formation, as a charity match was played to help in flood relief efforts. The Dutch team defeated a team of French stars 2-1, spurring the formation of a professional league in the Netherlands so top talent wasn’t sent to other leagues.

Ajax, Feyenoord, and PSV are all founding members in Eredivisie and have never been relegated. FC Utrecht wasn’t a founding member but has also never been relegated.

Eredivisie Conclusion

At the end of the day, Eredivisie betting is some of the most exciting soccer betting on the planet. High-scoring matches are more the rule than the exception in this league, which makes wagering on it more fun than many other top-flight soccer competitions.

With our Eredivisie picks, you’ll have a great chance to make money on this league in addition to having fun watching it.
