Toronto FC @ Nashville SC / MLS 2022 Prediction and Preview

Toronto FC visits Nashville SC at the Geodis Park in an MLS clash this Saturday. Check out our expert prediction for the game, along with a preview and odds.

While on one side, Nashville SC sits in the playoff zone, Toronto FC isn’t doing that great. The Canadian side had a bombastic transfer window, landing Lorenzo Insigne and Federico Bernardeschi, and the ambitions were quite high, but so was the disappointment.

On the other side, Nashville is currently sixth in the West, but we need to add that they aren’t playing well these days, currently riding a negative streak of four MLS games without a win. Gary Smith’s unit is one point ahead of the rivals who are under the playoff line, and they need to bounce back, or there won’t be postseason excitement for the fans in Tennessee.

Toronto FC Overview

Toronto has just one win in the past eight games, and that was against Charlotte at home on Insigne and Berdardeschi’s debut, 4-0. Prior to that, the franchise from the BMO field lost four and had one draw, which caused them to drop almost to the bottom of the conference.

What increases the anxiety among their fans is the fact that they lost the Canadian championship finals against the Whitecaps. That defeat saw penalties after 1-1 in the regular and extra time, so it was even more painful.

The most recent performance was against the New England Revolution on the road, and it saw no goals. Bob Bradley can be happy with the fact that his defense didn’t concede in 180 minutes of MLS battles, but on the other side, he still has a lot of problems in the attack, despite the arrival of the two Italian stars.

Noble Okello is the only player who won’t be playing on Saturday night, yet that isn’t concerning that much for Bradley.

Nashville SC Overview

Gary Smith and the boys were doing fine, but they suddenly slowed down. SC is currently without a win since July 18, posting a loss and then three draws in a row. It is interesting that all those three ties had ended with the same result, 1-1, against Cincinnati, Vancouver Whitecaps, and Portland Timbers. The loss was at home to LAFC, 1-2.

This not only frustrates them but the fans as well. Nashville posted excellent performances in the first part of the year, and even though they aren’t losing frequently, wasting points could cost them dearly in the end. For the moment, the franchise from Tennessee sits sixth in the conference with 33 points in 24 games, one point ahead of the Timbers, who are trying to reach the playoffs.

Only one of their previous ten games didn’t see both sides scoring. On the other hand, four of the past five were with 2 or 3 goals, meaning a moderate efficiency, which is a drop from what we’ve seen in the past when SC played.

The only absent player in Nashville is Anibal Godoy.

Toronto FC @ Nashville SC Prediction

Toronto’s games have a hidden positive trend, as they tightened up the defense, showing better performance than before the Italians landed. Four points in two games is a great success compared to just one in five prior to that. The entire team looks more compact, and after a long time, there is cohesion in the midfield.

On the other side, Nashville is on the decline, and they have certain struggles on the field. This isn’t anything catastrophic, but it does create some pressure on Smith and his crew.

All in all, we are going with a double chance, draw or Toronto, because we don’t think that the guests are going to lose this event.
