We are getting ready for another MLS showdown with the different matchups this weekend. Atlanta is set to visit FC Cincinnati in a battle of the Eastern Conference for a chance to make it into the top seven spots. There are still a few more games to go, but the end is closer than ever.
This weekend, we want to see the teams go at it and push for victory, adding three points to the existing ones. We would be happy to see an end-to-end open game like last week with the different matchups in the league. It was exciting, and we’re hoping for more to come. It would be much better,
Our focus would be on the TQL Stadium as it hosts Atlanta United and FC Cincinnati in this top-notch matchup. With the season getting to an end, three points are essential. Therefore, their objective would be to get the players to go for the win. Let’s look at how both teams might set up and provide our picks for the game.
FC Cincinnati Overview
FC Cincinnati is now on a three-game unbeaten run after their 2-0 loss against Columbus Crew. The team has only lost one in ten straight games. However, their win against Philadelphia Union is only their second in that period. They’ve struggled with numerous draws, so the team barely holds on to the top seven spots.
The team has won eight, drawn eight, and lost eight in the 24 matches they’ve played this season. They have an average season that needs to be better to make it to the playoffs. However, beating the number one team in the Eastern Conference is a good boost that the team can take to the next game.
As they are also playing at home this weekend, they can repeat the same play against Atlanta United. That would help them get a better chance of taking the three points. They were the underdogs going into the match, and after the first half, nothing could separate both teams. Therefore, we had to wait until the 50th minute for the real action to start.
The first goal came in from Brandon Vazquez, opening up the game, and in the 71st minute, the team was already 3-0 up, effectively taking it away from Philadelphia Union. Although Paxten Aaronson got one back, it was too late for Philadelphia. So, we expect Pat Noonan to keep the same shape as they get set for another game this weekend.
Atlanta United Overview
Atlanta United has had a not-so-good run in recent weeks. In the last ten games, they’ve only won three games. During this period, they’ve lost four and drawn three. Therefore, they’ve only got 12 points from a possible 30, which is not suitable for a team that would want to be part of the top seven at the end of the season.
United need to do better in the coming weeks, although they’ve been on a two-game unbeaten run and only conceded in one game. They can take inspiration from the last game and push for another good result when they face FC Cincinnati. In the game, they pulled the first goal from a lovely finish from Ronaldo Cisneros.
They ended the first half with a bitter-sweet experience as they finished the first 45 minutes leading 1-0, but Rossetto was forced out because of an injury. The Seattle Sounders controlled most of the game and even got the equalizer in the 68th minute from an impressive solo goal from Cristian Roldan.
With the game at 1-1 and the time already in the 80th minute, Gonzalo Pineda took out Sosa, replacing him with Andrew Gutman, who eventually got the winner in the 94th minute. He struck it to perfection, giving the goalkeeper no chance to get to the ball. Gutman might have just stolen a spot in the team for the next game.
Atlanta @ FC Cincinnati Predictions
With Atlanta United out of the top seven spots and Cincinnati barely holding on, the teams would need to push for all three points in this game.
None of them would miss a chance to solidify a spot in the playoffs. Therefore, we expect a tight game, and since they are coming on the back of a win, it is a tricky game to predict.
