Watford vs Leeds in the Premier League on Apr 9. 2022 - Odds & Prediction

Watford vs Leeds in the Premier League on Apr 9. 2022 - Odds & Prediction

At the start of this week, Watford currently find themselves three points behind Everton and rooted in the relegation zone. While if results go against them on Wednesday, the gap between the two clubs could extend further.

While when it comes to gaps, the Hornets currently find themselves eight points behind Leeds and with the two sides meeting this weekend, it is not a margin that can get any wider for Roy Hodgson and his players.

Leeds Win

Although all bad or even good runs have to end at some point, I am not sure that Watford can put their own miserable run of home results behind them and with eight successive defeats at Vicarage Road under their belts, I have a feeling it could be nine on Saturday.

Especially when you consider the new lease of life that is visible at Leeds, and this is something that I have taken into consideration before looking at all the biggest and best betting bsites.

Which means I am going to plump for a Leeds win at the weekend and not only will this create more misery for a struggling Watford side, but it will also currently pay out odds of 31/20 (888sport)

Watford Form, squad news, opinion

Although Watford gave Liverpool a tough time on Saturday, the end outcome was still the same that it has largely been this season and that was another defeat for the Hornets to subsequently deal with.

A 2-0 reverse that leaves them not only behind Everton in the Premier League table, but also having played more games than the Merseyside men (two at the time of writing, which will be one by the time they take to the field on Saturday)

Which is why the deck is seemingly stacked against Watford this season and especially when you consider just how poor they have been at home - a run that has seen them lose each of their last eight outings at Vicarage Road.

A run that has consigned Watford to the bottom three for quite a while now and although Roy Hodgson has managed to oversee two important wins on the road, that alone will not keep his side in the division.

Which is why getting the better of Leeds at the weekend is so important and if there was ever a time to break such a dreadful chain of results at home, then Saturday must be considered as the time in which to do so.

In terms of injuries and suspensions for the visit of Leeds, there is only one current concern for manager Roy Hodgson to deal with and this is the absence of defender Nicolas N’Koulou, as he is currently out with a hamstring injury until May.

Leeds Form, squad news, opinion

Although Leeds failed to extend their Premier League winning streak at the weekend, they did manage to extend their unbeaten run to three matches at the same time and although it was just a point at home to Southampton, it could also be a mightily important point

Because now Leeds have earned seven from the last nine on offer and in doing so, they have managed to put some clear daylight between themselves and Watford who currently lie 18th in the Premier League.

While with the points that Leeds have accrued since the arrival of Jesse Marsch as manager, they are now just seven or so away from reaching the promised land of safety at the end of the season.

Which means a win over Watford would reduce seven down to four and if that was to be the case, it would also put an 11-point margin between themselves and the team that is hosting them on Saturday.

A margin which could even mean that safety is all but secure that very afternoon and this is why the upcoming trip to Watford, is one that is going to have particularly high stakes for both outfits.

In terms of injuries and suspensions for the trip to Watford, manager Jesse Marsch has a number of concerns before the weekend and with injuries to Robin Koch, Raphinia and Kalvin Phillips, some key names will be absent at the weekend.

When it comes to the history between Watford and Leeds, it is fair to say that there has not been a great deal of it and of what has been played, it is the former that just have the edge overall.

In terms of their overall head-to-head record, Watford have won on 11 occasions, Leeds 9 and there have been 6 draws

About the Venue

Vicarage Road opened in 1922 and holds up to 21,577 supporters

When it comes to Vicarage Road, it is one of the smaller grounds within the confines of the Premier League and when it comes to their own confines, Watford have had little success on home turf this season.

Something that they must change at the weekend and if they fail to get the better of Leeds on Saturday, it will only worsen their own plight at the bottom of the table - while also helping the visitors out at the same time.

When looking at the current Premier League relegation odds, Watford are looking a near certainty to suffer the drop and therefore, there is little in the way of value when backing the Hornets.

While in the same market, Leeds’ odds have lengthened over the course of the past few weeks and if they can earn maximum points at the weekend, they will no longer be a concern when it comes to relegation.
