Norwich vs Burnley in the Premier League on Apr 10. 2022 - Odds & Prediction

Norwich vs Burnley in the Premier League on Apr 10. 2022 - Odds & Prediction

Although Norwich may have ended their run of Premier League defeats, they are still eight league outings without a win and with one point from the last 24 on offer, relegation is now staring them full in the face.

Something that could have also been the case for Burnley by the end of Wednesday just passed. However, their win over Everton has breathed new life into the Clarets’ continual bid for survival.

Burnley Win

Although both teams currently find themselves in the relegation zone, this fixture does not quite have the air of a six-pointer, and this is something that I have considered before looking at all the best betting websites.

Because although Norwich are in desperate need of a Premier League win this weekend, I cannot see them achieving such a thing and especially when you consider the mood that Burnley will be in after Wednesday.

Which is why I have kept this one rather simple and with Burnley priced at 17/10 (SportNation) to earn maximum points at Carrow Road, I think their momentum will continue beyond their midweek success.

Norwich Form, squad news, opinion

Even though they earned a point away at Brighton last Saturday, Norwich were perhaps lucky to do so and had Neal Maupay netted his penalty for the Seagulls, it would have meant an eighth successive defeat for the Canaries.

While that additional point does little in the grand scheme of things and with just eight games of the season remaining, Norwich will have to likely win seven of those to have any chance of genuine survival.

A herculean task it must be said and although Dean Smith will publicly say that it is not over until it is mathematically over, privately the former Aston Villa boss will have already waved the white flag.

Then again, Smith was installed earlier in the season for his Championship experience and although keeping Norwich up would have been a huge bonus, the appointment seems steeped in a long-term strategy.

Because now the aim will be to return to the Premier League once again at the first time of asking and with the Carrow Road outfit being rather adept at this, plans to play in the second tier will have already begun.

In terms of injuries and suspensions for the visit of Burnley, there is another blow for manager Dean Smith to contend with and with Adam Idah already out until the end of the season, he will now be joined by Ozan Kabak on the treatment table.

Burnley Form, squad news, opinion

There is no understating just how big Burnley’s win over Everton really was. Because although they still find themselves in the bottom three, they have managed to close the gap to the Toffees.

What was four points before the clash at Turf Moor, is now just one and with Burnley seemingly buoyant, they will believe they have what it takes to eventually crawl out of the relegation zone.

While such an achievement could even happen as early as this Sunday afternoon and if results go their way, they will leapfrog Everton and consign the Toffees to an incredibly sticky situation.

With that being said, Burnley manager Sean Dyche will continue to focus on what he and his players have to do and although it will be tempting to focus on affairs elsewhere, getting the better of Norwich is their only focus this weekend.

Because with a run of four successive defeats now at an end, it means the clouds have broken over East Lancashire and if the Sun shines in East Anglia on Sunday, it could be another huge step towards safety.

In terms of injuries and suspensions for the trip to Norwich, there are no new injury doubts for manager Sean Dyche, and he will once again have a full-strength squad on Sunday. However, Josh Brownhill must be careful not to receive a caution, as he is currently walking a disciplinary tightrope.

When it comes to the history of these two sides, it is fair to say that their rivalry is not that intense. Then again, with precious points up for grabs, both will be looking to boost their survival bid on Sunday.

Which means although Norwich versus Burnley is not the most appealing meeting on paper, there will certainly be a lot of interest on what happens this weekend.

In terms of their overall head-to-head record, Norwich have won on 15 occasions, Burnley 21 and there have been 8 draws

About the Venue

Carrow Road opened in 1935 and holds up to 27,244 supporters.

With Carrow Road being in operation for nearly 80 years, it is one of the older grounds within the confines of the Premier League. Then again, with the way the Canaries are playing at present, it may soon be one of the older grounds in the EFL Championship.

Although Norwich’s home may give up plenty in terms of capacity, their supporters are just as passionate as anyone else’s and on their day, they have been known to help cheer their team to victory.

When it comes to the Premier League odds, Norwich look absolutely certain to go down and even if they were to win on Sunday, it would do little in the way of shortening their current price in the market.

While in the very same list of odds, Burnley have shortened to as little as Evens and with them currently pegged level with Everton, it looks as if these two sides will be competing over the last relegation berth.
