Newcastle vs Wolves in the Premier League on Apr 8. 2022 - Odds & Prediction

Newcastle vs Wolves in the Premier League on Apr 8. 2022 - Odds & Prediction

After suffering a thrashing at the hands of Tottenham on Sunday, Newcastle will not be able to lick their wounds for too long and with survival not yet secured, their pursuit for more Premier League points continues on Friday.

While next up for the Magpies, it is none other than Wolves and with Bruno Lage’s men looking for a league win themselves, victory on Tyneside will aid their quest for a European invite at the start of next season.

Wolves And Under 2.5 Goals

With three successive defeats to their name, Newcastle are just starting to wobble once again and when you consider that Brentford have surpassed them in the Premier League table, the relegation zone is now appearing closer in the distance.

Which is something I have considered when looking at the biggest betting sites online and when it comes to tips for the clash between Newcastle and Wolves, I have a juicy one waiting up my sleeve.

Because with Wolves back on the march, I think they will have too much for Newcastle and with an away win and under 2.5 goals in total currently paying out 5/1 (SportNation) , it is something worth keeping in mind before kick-off.

Newcastle Form, squad news, opinion

After taking the lead against Tottenham on Sunday, all seemed well for Newcastle and although they were celebrating just minutes before the interval, they were only celebrating for a couple of minutes themselves.

One goal up, subsequently turned into five goals conceded at the other end and with Eddie Howe’s men being soundly beaten in North London, all he and his players can do is dust themselves off and try again this Friday evening.

For the simple reason that the Magpies have now slipped a position down the Premier League table and with six points still likely needed to secure safety, their recent impressive work is in danger of being undone.

Because with three successive defeats to their name - albeit all away from home, they will now have to hope for better fortunes at home and perhaps more importantly, better fortunes before the final day of the season.

With a trip to Burnley still on their agenda, the last thing that Newcastle need is an all or nothing encounter at Turf Moor and if they can get positive results beforehand, it will take the sting out of any potential last day drama.

In terms of injuries and suspensions for the visit of Wolves, it is still a rather lengthy injury list that manager Eddie Howe is working with, and this means Callum Wilson. Kieran Trippier, and Martin Dubravka are likely to miss out once again.

Wolves Form, squad news, opinion

Although Wolves are currently the outsiders looking in when it comes to European qualification, they must still be considered as part of the battle and with eight teams looking to land seven invites, it is a battle that will go all the way to the wire.

Especially as Wolves have found something of a resurgence when it comes to league form and with three wins from the last four being recorded, Bruno Lage’s men are seemingly in the ascendency once again.

Something that was on show against Aston Villa last Saturday and although the final score was a 2-1 win for Wolves, their performance was one that was far more dominant than the result suggests.

Once again, it is the combination of a watertight defence supplementing just enough goals which is driving Wolves forward at present and with the fourth meanest backline in the division, this area of the pitch is seemingly working overtime.

Of course, there is more than one way to win a football match and Wolves are showing everyone a different way to come out on top - one that could well lead them to a top-seven finish at the end of the season.

In terms of injuries and suspensions for the trip to Newcastle, there are no new injury doubts for manager Bruno Lage to deal with and that means Wolves will be at full strength for their Friday trip to Tyneside.

When it comes to the history of these two sides, it is Wolves who have come out on top more often and when Newcastle and Wolves square off, it is always an encounter which is highly entertaining.

In terms of their overall head-to-head record, Newcastle have won on 32 occasions, Wolves 42 and there have been 28 draws

About the Venue

St James’ Park opened way back in 1880 and currently holds up to 52,338 supporters.

When it comes to St James Park, it is one of the more impressive structures within the Premier League and with the roar of the home crowd being heard across the city, you always know when the Magpies have found the back of the net.

While that same fanbase will be on hand to help Newcastle on Friday and if they can lend their voices accordingly, it might just make life difficult for Bruno Lage and his travelling Wolves side.

After suffering a third successive Premier League defeat, Newcastle’s odds in the Premier League relegation market will have shortened slightly. With that said, there are still a number of teams in worse danger than the Magpies.

While when it comes to Wolves, there is still some value to be found when it comes to the top-six finish market and if the Molineux outfit can find a win on Friday, their odds will only shorten further.
