We have ourselves a Milan derby in the semi-finals of the Coppa Italia and both AC and Inter will be keen to pick up a bit of form against their bitter rivals after stuttering in the league in recent weeks.
The Rossoneri have dropped four league points in the space of a week after disappointing back-to-back draws against Salernitana and Udinese, while Inter are winless in four and haven’t even managed a goal in their last three outings.
These two met as recently as February 5th, with ten-man Milan taking all three points courtesy of a late Olivier Giroud double, despite being behind at half-time.
Both sides scored in their other clash this season, so we’re expecting more goals once again on Tuesday night at the San Siro, as part of our expert football betting tips.
The signs point towards this one being somewhat nip-and-tuck. Neither side head into this game in sparkling form and with the contest taking place over two legs, we’re likely to see cautious approaches from two sides who won’t want to give too much away in the first 90 minutes.
Inter have lost their scoring touch in recent weeks, with their last goal coming against Napoli on February 12th, but having found the net in both games against Milan this season, we think they’re likely to be in the mix for at least one goal here.
Milan, meanwhile, don’t tend to struggle when it comes to finding the back of the net. The only time they’ve failed to score in their last eleven games was in a 0-0 draw with Juventus in late-January, and with Inter keeping just two clean sheets in their last eight, there’s enough evidence to suggest there’s a goal apiece in this for both sides.
It’s tough to make a case for either team winning this, though, so we’re going to go for a 1-1 correct score selection for this one, which can be backed at around 6/1 with bet 365.
Tuesday is the beginning of a huge week for AC Milan, who after facing Inter here, take on Napoli in a crunch clash in Serie A at the weekend.
Despite drawing their last couple of games, they’re in pretty good shape generally, with their only league defeat this year coming in controversial circumstances against Spezia at the San Siro in January.
This match comes three weeks after they dismantled Lazio with a ruthless exhibition of finishing to win 4-0 in the quarter-finals, with goals from Rafael Leao, Giroud (2) and Franck Kessie.
And having already beaten Inter this season, they certainly won’t go into this one with any fear.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic (Achilles) and Simon Kjaer (Knee) remain out for the hosts.
Inter currently sit two points behind Milan in the race for the Scudetto, but with a game in hand, their Serie A destiny firmly remains in their hands.
But Simone Inzaghi’s men are faltering in their pursuit for back-to-back titles, having won only twice this calendar year, and their current run has seen them pick up maximum points only once in their past six matches.
Goals are certainly the major issue at present, with only four goals during that half-dozen-game spell. However, with the likes of Edin Dzeko and Lautaro Martinez up front, that goal average will surely pick up sooner rather than later.
Robin Gosens could make a return to the Inter squad for this one, but the game is likely to come too soon for Joaquin Correa.
These two have a rich history, having met 64 times down the years, and it will come as no surprise to learn that there’s little to separate them in the head-to-heads.
Inter Milan just shade it, though, with 25 wins to AC’s 21.
It’s also worth bearing in mind that both teams have scored in five of the last six meetings.
Any football fan will surely have the San Siro on their stadium bucket list, and it remains one of the most iconic grounds in world football.
But enjoy it while it lasts, as there are plans for the two sides to move to a new stadium in the city by the year 2027.
There typically isn’t a great deal between these two and considering the two-leg nature of this Coppa Italia tie, we’re likely to see a cagey contest the first time around.
AC Milan have developed a recent knack for drawing games, but they do have a good record against Inter this season. That said, the Nerazzurri know that form goes out the window for derby games and a good result against their rivals could act as the perfect catalyst to get their title charge back on track.
But with all things considered, we think both sides will be happy with a draw here.
