Liverpool vs Watford in the Premier League on Apr 2. 2022 - Odds & Prediction

After earning a huge victory over Arsenal before the international break, the Premier League title race has now taken another huge twist and with Liverpool now just a point behind Manchester City, is it all to play for at the top.

While at the same time, it is now all to play for at the bottom as well and with Watford doing their level best to avoid relegation, they are going to have to hope for more fortune away from home.

Liverpool To Win To Nil

10 Premier League wins under their belts and now Liverpool aim to make it 11. That is the subplot for Saturday’s encounter with Watford and unsurprisingly, they will be favourites to come out on top.

Which means after looking at all the biggest and best online betting sites, simply backing Liverpool to win at Anfield is not going to move the needle all that much. Thankfully though, I have found something that will.

Because with Liverpool winning all of their last nine home league outings and keeping a clean sheet in seven of them, I fancy a home win to nil at the weekend - something that you can join me in backing at odds of 89/100 (888sport).

Liverpool Form, squad news, opinion

Down to one. That is the margin that separates Manchester City from Liverpool right now and with the two sides meeting at the Etihad on April 10th, that could well be the clash that defines this season’s race for the Premier League title.

However, Liverpool and their manager Jurgen Klopp cannot take their focus off the upcoming task in hand and that is the visit of Watford - one where the Merseyside men will look to make it 11 Premier League wins in a row.

A run that even if it was 10 games unbeaten would be largely impressive, but this run has taken Liverpool to new heights and with them previously being 14 points behind the current league leaders, they have generated an incredible run of momentum.

One where they have refused to throw in the towel and with the red machine currently marching on at quite a pace, you get the feeling that they will not stop until they reach the very top of the table.

Of course, if they are to reach the very top of the Premier League, they must not drop points at home to Watford on Saturday and although there is always a slight chance of that happening, you would not bet against Liverpool in their current form.

In terms of injuries and suspensions for the visit of Watford, there is only one major concern for manager Jurgen Klopp and that is the continual absence of defender Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Watford Form, squad news, opinion

When you look at Watford’s form under new manager Roy Hodgson, they are something of a curious case and although they have struggled at their own Vicarage Road ground, they have been successful on the road.

Because after earning a rather surprise win over Aston Villa, they then recently followed that up with success away at Southampton and it is these six points that have just kept them in the Premier League survival mix.

With that said, Roy Hodgson’s men still find themselves in quite a bind and not only are they three points behind 17th place Everton right now, but the blue half of Merseyside also have two games in hand.

Which means Watford have plenty of work to do between now and the end of the season and if they are to stay up, then their current manager is going to have to use all of his 40 plus years’ experience.

Then again, experience alone does not guarantee another stint in the English top flight and for all of Roy Hodgson’s coaching nous, he will also need his players to dig themselves out of the rather large hole that they find in.

In terms of injuries and suspensions for the trip to Liverpool, Watford manager Roy Hodgson has a clean bill of health to work with on Saturday and with a trip to Anfield always being difficult, a fully fit squad will at least make things a little easier.

When it comes to the rivalry between these two sides, it is best known for a meeting at Vicarage Road in February 2020 - one where Watford ran out 3-0 winners and ended Liverpool’s sensational unbeaten streak during the 2019/20 campaign.

In terms of their overall head-to-head record, Liverpool have won on 25 occasions, Watford 6 and there have been 4 draws

About the Venue

When it comes to the best-known stadiums in the Premier League, Liverpool is right at the top of the list and with their supporters being some of the passionate in the division, they play a great role in helping their team to victory.

With COVID-19 restrictions being lifted in England, it means there is no longer the need to show a Vaccine Passport before attending the ground. Which means, match tickets are the only item that is required to be produced at the time of writing.

When it comes to the Premier League odds, Liverpool’s have shortened considerably after their 2-0 win over Arsenal and right now, they are looking more of a value bet for the title.

While when it comes to the relegation market, there is not much value when it comes to backing Watford and although they could well go down, the bookmakers will not offer much in the way of a reward.
