Liverpool vs Everton in the Premier League on Apr 24. 2022 - Odds & Prediction

After having a taste of top spot in the Premier League, Liverpool want a bigger bite and with the Anfield outfit once again finding themselves a single point behind Manchester City, the gap could be four by the time the Merseyside derby gets underway.

While at the time of writing, four is the magic number for Everton and with the Toffees possessing that points advantage over Burnley, they will hope that gap still exists by the time Sunday afternoon comes around.

Liverpool 3-0

With a scintillating showing on Tuesday now in the history books, Liverpool will be in the mood for more and although Everton are showing signs of recovery, this is going to spell bad news for the blue half of Merseyside.

Which is something I have taken into consideration when looking at the biggest and best online betting sites before the weekend and with Liverpool being clear favourites to win, this is something that I will now expand on.

quotes
In fact, I am going to be quite bold with this one and back a 3-0 Liverpool win at odds of 7/1 (888sport) and if you think this will also be the case, then do not delay in backing this outcome before Sunday.

Liverpool Form, squad news, opinion

Although Manchester United are far from their best these days, nobody expected Liverpool to do as much damage as they did and after a stunning performance on Tuesday night, it was the Reds who reached the Premier League summit.

However, Manchester City would wrestle back that coveted berth just a day later and with the two title protagonists both extending their unbeaten runs, Liverpool will now look to extend another of their own.

Because after getting the better of Manchester United, Liverpool have now won 10 successive home games in the Premier League and after disposing of one of their bitter rivals, it is time to get the better of another.

Of course, the formbook would suggest that Liverpool are the clear favourites to win the Merseyside derby Sunday and with the way they are playing as of late, you would have to say rightly so.

Then again, now is not the time for complacency and although the players will be all too aware of such a dangerous attribute, manager Jurgen Klopp will also have to drum that same message into the squad before kick-off.

In terms of injuries and suspensions for the visit of Everton, manager Jurgen Klopp has no new concerns to deal with and this means the red half of Merseyside is at full strength before the weekend.

Everton Form, squad news, opinion

Although it is happening somewhat slowly, it does feel as if progress has been made at Goodison Park and even though they picked up just a draw at home to Leicester on Wednesday, that in itself will feel like a win.

Because at the bottom of the Premier League table, you have to take what you can when it comes to wins or even draws and with that Leicester stalemate just edging them further away from Burnley, there is perhaps reason to be cheerful within the Everton camp.

If only due to them picking up four points from the last six on offer and with them previously getting better of Manchester United, their next outing was one that still ended on a positive note.

While that positivity has likely come from Burnley’s decision to sack Sean Dyche and with the Clarets having little or nothing in the way of a succession plan, this is something that played largely into Everton’s hands.

Of course, when it comes to hands it may also feel that Frank Lampard is currently working with one behind his back at times and now, he must also remove the shackles that his Everton players currently have attached to them.

In terms of injuries and suspensions for the trip to Liverpool, the list is seemingly getting longer by the week and with manager Frank Lampard now having to deal with further woe, as many as six players could be absent on Sunday.

While for those interested in the names that are likely to be on the sidelines, they are as follows: Tom Davies, Cenk Tosun, Yerry Mina, Andros Townsend, Nathan Patterson and Donny van de Beek.

History

When it comes to the history of Liverpool and Everton, it is the red half of Merseyside who have come out on top more often than not and with a Merseyside derby always being a captivating affair, this weekend’s offering should be no different.

pointer right
In terms of their overall head-to-head record, Liverpool have won on 122 occasions, Everton 83 and there have been 85 draws.

About the Venue

Anfield opened in 1884 and holds up to 53,394 supporters in current times. However, the record attendance at this ground was 61,905 and this was back in February 1952, as Wolves provided the opposition.

Although Anfield may be slightly smaller than some of the biggest stadia within the Premier League, the roar of their supporters is one that is hardly matched within either English or European football.

While those supporters will certainly have no love lost on Sunday and with the famous “You’ll Never Walk Alone” song blaring through the speakers before kick-off, it should set the stage for another chapter in Liverpool and Everton’’s storied rivalry.

Conclusion

When it comes to the Premier League outright odds, they would have tilted back in Manchester City’s direction after midweek and all Liverpool can do now is keep applying the pressure at the top.

quotes
While when it comes to the pressure, Everton are certainly dealing with that right now and although their relegation odds have lengthened slightly, there is still plenty of work to be done between now and the end of this season.
