Leicester vs Aston Villa in the Premier League on Apr 23. 2022 - Odds & Prediction

Leicester vs Aston Villa in the Premier League on Apr 23. 2022 - Odds & Prediction

With Leicester eyeing up European success, there is a feeling of dead rubber in the Premier League and although a top-ten finish would be welcomed, it is not the be all and end all for manager Brendan Rodgers either.

As for Aston Villa, they have lost each of their last four Premier League outings and with them starting this weekend’s Premier League action lying 15th in the table, a top-ten finish is now looking rather unlikely.

Aston Villa Draw No Bet

With Leicester blowing both hot and cold in equal measures, this is a hard one to call and this is something that I have taken into consideration when looking at all the biggest and best betting sites.

Especially as Leicester’s focus will largely be elsewhere and with Aston Villa looking to end their unbeaten run at the weekend, I have a feeling that fortune may favour the West Midlands outfit.

However, I am also going to take out a bit of insurance here and with the draw no bet adding a bit of security, backing Villa in this market at odds of 17/20 (Bet UK) , is something that takes my fancy before the weekend.

Leicester Form, squad news, opinion

With Leicester starting the weekend in the top-half of the Premier League table and also having games in hand over the teams that want to overtake them, they are well placed to avoid finishing in the bottom ten.

However, there is the small matter of a Roman visit next Thursday and with the club already being scuppered by injuries throughout this campaign, the last thing they need is injuries before European action resumes.

Especially when two of there bigger names are already side-lined and in what has been a stop-start campaign for both the club and Jamie Vardy, the latter may soon be transitioned to more of a support role from next season.

Although there is no doubt that the former England forward knows where the goal is, his body is starting to let him down and with Patson Daka now taking on the mantle of talisman, the 23-year-old will likely start against Aston Villa this weekend.

Which means Daka will have to make sure that he himself avoids any knocks before Jose Mourinho’s men come to town and although league points will be welcomed on Saturday, there are bigger ambitions waiting around the corner as well.

In terms of injuries and suspensions for the visit of Aston Villa, there are no new injury concerns for manager Brendan Rodgers to deal with. However, this does mean that he will be without the trio of Jamie Vardy, Danny Ward and Wilfried Ndidi once again.

Aston Villa Form, squad news, opinion

It is fair to say that Aston Villa have gone off the boil in recent weeks and with four successive Premier League defeats to their name, they have also slipped to as low as 15th in the table - a run that will have the club owners concerned.

If only because Aston Villa aspire to break through the European glass ceiling in the next couple of years and if this is to be the case, then they are certainly going about things the wrong way.

In fairness to manager Steven Gerrard, it would be ludicrous to suggest that his employment status is at risk and although the previous incumbent got sacked for losing five matches in a row, the same fate will not await the former Rangers boss.

With that said, Gerrard himself will know that he has to get a tune out of his players and with a top half finish now seemingly unlikely, it all boils down to how much prize money the Villa Park outfit can win at the end of the season.

First though, they must deal with a more pertinent task and that is making sure that they end their run of four successive defeats. Should they do that at the weekend, then the mood in Birmingham may begin to be a slightly more positive one.

In terms of injuries and suspensions for the trip to Leicester, there is only one concern for manager Steven Gerrard to deal with and this is the shoulder injury that has once again ruled out Lucas Digne in defence.

History

When it comes to the history of Leicester and Aston Villa, it is the Foxes who have come out on top more often than not and they will look for more local supremacy this coming Saturday afternoon.

pointer right
In terms of their overall head-to-head record, Leicester have won on 44 occasions, Aston Villa 36 and there have been 25 draws

About the Venue

The King Power Stadium opened in 2002 and holds up to 32,273 supporters.

Previously known as the Walkers Stadium, the King Power Stadium has been the named home of Leicester since 2011 and since that time, the Foxes have found considerably more bite within English and European football.

None more so than back in 2016 and with Claudio Ranieri leading Leicester to an incredible Premier League title victory, it will be a memory that will be etched in supporters’ minds for eternity.

Conclusion

When it comes to these two sides, there is not a great deal of interest left when it comes to outright odds and if you were going to place a wager on either Leicester or Aston Villa, then the top-ten finish market would make the most sense.

quotes
With that said, Leicester’s European exploits may well hamper them when it comes to staying in the top half and therefore, they might not be the best team to back in this particular market. While Villa’s odds are currently even longer than that of the Foxes.
