Leeds vs Norwich in the Premier League on Mar 13. 2022 - Odds & Prediction

Leeds vs Norwich in the Premier League on Mar 13. 2022 - Odds & Prediction

Although Jesse Marsch did not get off to a perfect start as Leeds manager, there were definitely some obvious improvements in the defeat to Leicester and he will now hope more gains can be found this weekend.

That is because they play host to Norwich and with the Canaries failing to find their voice in recent weeks, it looks as if Dean Smith’s men are now certainties for relegation at the end of the season.

Leeds To Win

With home advantage being so key in the Premier League, Leeds will want to make good use of that at the weekend. Then again, that want is perhaps more of a need, as they bid to avoid relegation at the end of the season.

A bid that Norwich themselves are trying but failing to get off the ground and after looking at the best betting sites online, I have decided to keep this tip relatively simple before Sunday’s match at Elland Road.

Which means I am going to plump for Jesse Marsch’s men to come out on top and if like me, you think that will also be the case, you can back Leeds to beat Norwich at odds of 61/100 with SportNation .

Leeds Form, squad news, opinion

With both Leeds and Norwich firmly in a Premier League relegation battle, this weekend’s clash between the two has all the hallmarks of a six-pointer and if the former can win this one, it will give them some much needed distance from the bottom three.

Distance that manager Jesse Marsch will be looking to find as soon as possible and the sooner he can keep Leeds’ heads above the water, the sooner he can justify his appointment at the club.

Because there are some quarters that still question the sacking of Marcelo Bielsa and although you could argue it was unfair, you only need to look at the month of February to understand why.

No fewer than 20 goals were shipped by Leeds in that month and after the 4-0 home reverse to Tottenham, it was clear that the Elland Road outfit needed a different voice. A voice that speaks in an American accent.

After a disappointing spell as manager of RB Leipzig, Marsch will certainly have a point to prove and especially as there is still a stigma around American coaches in the Premier League. While if he can prove all three against Norwich, it will be a huge win for his new side.

In terms of injuries and suspensions for the visit of Norwich, Jesse Marsch should be able to call upon forward Patrick Bamford from the start and although that will be a huge boost, midfielder Kalvin Phillips is still absent.

Norwich Form, squad news, opinion

Defeats against Manchester City and Liverpool you can allow for, and far bigger and better teams will lose to the two outfits that are gunning out for this season’s Premier League title. However, a lowly performance at home to Brentford is never going to be taken lightly.

Because although the Canaries shipped seven goals to the combination of City and Liverpool, they did nothing to disgrace themselves - especially as they took the lead against the latter.

Then again, a look back to their hosting of Brentford last weekend and it is one that this Norwich squad will want to forget, as an Ivan Toney hattrick saw the Bees pick up a hugely important win for themselves.

However, manager Dean Smith cannot allow his players to forget such a woeful showing at Carrow Road and if Norwich are to dig themselves out of a massive hole, they are going to have to learn from their mistakes.

If they can learn quickly, they may just have a small slither of hope between now and the end of the season. More of the same though and the EFL Championship will be ready to welcome back one of its familiar faces.

In terms of injuries and suspensions for the trip to Leeds, there is only one piece of unavailability that Dean Smith will have to deal with and with Adam Idah set to be a long-term absentee, that will be something of a blow to the Norwich manager.

When it comes to the rivalry between Leeds and Norwich, it is the latter who have just edged out the former. With that said, there is not a great deal in it, and this is why an encounter between these two could go either way.

In terms of their overall head-to-head record, Leeds have won on 24 occasions, Norwich 20 and there have been 16 draws.

About the Venue

Although Elland Road could perhaps do with a new coat of paint, it should not distract from the atmosphere that is generated within the ground and although Leeds’ fortunes have halted as of late, their supporters are not shy when it comes to making noise.

With COVID-19 restrictions being lifted in England, it means there is no longer the need to show a Vaccine Passport before attending the ground. Which means, match tickets are the only item that is required to be produced at the time of writing.

When it comes to the Premier League relegation market, a lot will depend on how Leeds perform in both this encounter with Norwich and their visit of Aston Villa on Thursday evening and only after that, we will know if they are worth backing.

While in the same market, there is little point backing Norwich. If only because they are currently 1/33 to be relegated (888sport) and at that price, you may as well just keep your money in your bank account.
