Juventus vs Torino in Serie A on Feb 18. 2022 - Odds & Prediction

There’s Friday night action in Serie A, as Juventus and Torino lock horns in the Turin Derby.

Juventus have really started to find a rhythm over the last few months. Massimiliano Allegri’s men had a sloppy start to the campaign, but slowly, they’re starting to resemble something similar to what you would expect from a Juve side.

As anticipated, they’re favourites to get the better of Torino in this one. The visitors have had a solid term so far and sit mid-table, but they arrive on the back of two straight Serie A defeats.

Read on for our reliable football betting tips for the game.

2-0 Juventus (Correct Score)

It’s hard to see past a home win here given the run Juventus are currently on. The Old Lady are unbeaten in their last eleven league outings. They’ve won seven of their last eight games across all competitions at the Allianz Stadium too.

Torino are a fairly solid outfit, and with Juventus not really blowing teams out of the water this season, we could see a pretty low-scoring affair.

The hosts have won by a scoreline of 2-0, in seven of their last thirteen matches. Torino haven’t been that convincing on the road lately, losing six of their last nine away from home in the league. In that time, they’ve scored just three goals, so the stats suggest we’re unlikely to see them register here.

With these things in mind, our selection is a 2-0 Juventus win on the Correct Score market, which is available at 7/1 with LeoVegas.

Juventus Form, squad news, opinion

After 25 games, Juventus are nine points off current league leaders, AC Milan. Any push for the Scudetto still looks pretty unlikely at this stage, but when you look at the bigger picture, for the Old Lady to be 4th, it represents an upturn in their form.

You always associate Juventus with being steely, tough and technical. None of that was seen at the start of the season from Allegri’s men, but they’ve definitely turned over a new leaf recently.

They’ve only lost one of their last fifteen games, and that was in the Super Cup, with a last-gasp Alexis Sanchez goal in extra time being the decider.

Atalanta are one of their main rivals in the battle for fourth spot and they salvaged a point against them at the weekend thanks to a 92nd minute Danilo header.

Juve captain Giorgio Chiellini will be out for this one with a calf strain. The defender joins Federico Bernardeschi and Federico Chiesa on the sidelines.

Torino Form, squad news, opinion

Torino were in the relegation mix last campaign, so they’ll be happy they’re in the relative safety of mid-table at this stage of the season.

This looks a tough ask for them, though, especially when you consider their awful record against Juventus - they’ve only ever beaten them once away from home.

Travelling has been a big issue for them this term. Of the 32 points they’ve picked up in Serie A so far, just eight of them have come on the road.

Those struggles extend even more against the bigger sides of the division. Torino have lost away at Napoli, AC Milan, Roma and Inter Milan this season - all without scoring a single goal.

Mohamed Fares remains out for the visitors with a cruciate ligament injury.

History

The Derby della Mole sees the two most prominent clubs of Turin clash. It’s the oldest derby in Italian football, with the first meeting between the sides taking place in 1907.

Juventus have a huge edge when it comes to the head-to-head record. The pair have faced off a total of 39 times, with Juve winning 28 times. Torino have just three victories to their name against the Old Lady, with the most recent being in 2015. Juventus have won four of the last five clashes.

About the Venue

The Allianz Stadium is still in its infancy, having been opened in 2011. It was built on the site of Juventus’ former ground, the Stadio delle Alpi.

It holds a maximum of 41,507 supporters and achieves a much better atmosphere than its predecessor. The Stadio delle Alpi was never that popular with fans due to poor sightlines and the fixed athletics track around the edge of the pitch. The Allianz Stadium has no such issues and provides a much more intimate match day experience.

Conclusion

This is a game that Juventus will see as a perfect opportunity for them to put a bit of pressure on the clubs around them.

At home against a side who have struggled away this term - especially against the bigger sides - it could turn out to be a relatively smooth victory for the Old Lady.
