Everton vs Leicester in the Premier League on Apr 20. 2022 - Odds & Prediction

After getting the better of Manchester United in their last Premier League outing, Everton can now breathe a little easier and although they are not safe yet, the task in hand does not seem so herculean anymore.

While in midweek they play host to Leicester and after suffering a dramatic late defeat to Newcastle on Sunday, Brendan Rodgers’ may now simply focus on matters in the Europa Conference League.

Everton To Win And Both Teams To Score

With Everton now having some daylight between themselves and Burnley and perhaps more importantly having a game in hand over the Clarets, this could be a pivotal week in the race for Premier League survival.

Something that I have taken into consideration when looking at all the best online betting sites and with Leicester now fully focused on Europe, this will only play into the hands of Everton even more.

Everton Form, squad news, opinion

Although Everton did not feature at the weekend, they may have had the best result of all and with relegation rivals Burnley sacking manager Sean Dyche, it seems the balance of power has swung back to the Toffees.

Especially as Frank Lampard’s men still find themselves three points clear of Burnley and with nothing in the way of a successor installed at the time of writing, the Clarets now look something like a ship without a rudder.

Of course, that does not mean that Everton can simply rest on their laurels, as they still need to get a couple more wins in the bank between now and the end of the season. However, it will have given cause for optimism in the blue half of Merseyside.

Because after getting the better of a lacklustre Manchester United in the weekend before last, Everton must now build on such an impressive performance and although their task has been made a little easier, survival has not been assured yet.

Then again, it does seem as if lady luck is shining on Everton and with Leicester now fully focused on Europa Conference League success, it will only give a further advantage to the hosts in midweek.

In terms of injuries and suspensions for the visit of Leicester, the injuries are really starting to stack up for manager Frank Lampard and with Andros Townsend and Donny van de Beek both out for the rest of the season, they also join the quarter of Nathan Patterson, Tom Davies, Yerry Mina and Cenk Tosun on the sidelines.

Leicester Form, squad news, opinion

After making substantial changes before their recent Premier League clash with Crystal Palace, Brendan Rodgers set out to do the same with a weekend trip to Newcastle on his mind.

Changes that looked rather justified by the time that Ademola Lookman opened the scoring on Tyneside and with the Foxes going ahead, it showed that perhaps there is strength in depth when it comes to the Leicester squad.

However, that strength showed signs of weakness throughout the match and with Newcastle eventually overturning their early deficit to snatch all three points, it means Leicester have been reeled in by the mid-table teams below.

While after that defeat to Newcastle, manager Brendan Rodgers now has something of a dilemma and although a top-ten finish would be of some interest at the King Power, it is by no means the most important target.

Because after getting the better of PSV in midweek, Leicester now find themselves in the last four of the Europa Conference League and with a Europa League invite waiting just around the corner, this will likely be their main priority between now and the end of the season.

In terms of injuries and suspensions for the trip to Everton, there are no new injury concerns for manager Brendan Rodgers to deal with. However, this does mean that he will be without the trio of Jamie Vardy, Danny Ward and Wilfried Ndidi once again.

History

When it comes to the history of Everton and Leicester, it is the Toffees who have come out on top more often than not and with Frank Lampard’s men struggling near the bottom of the table, they will hope that the weight of history helps them in midweek.

pointer right
In terms of their overall head-to-head record, Everton have won on 44 occasions, Leicester 38 and there have been 33 draws

About the Venue

Goodison Park opened in 1892 and holds up to 39,571 supporters.

While that capacity crowd would have been in full voice recently, as Everton got the better of Manchester United and it just goes to show that when the Toffees’ fanbase is on the side of the team, they can be a huge help.

However, when things do go wrong and they have gone wrong on plenty of occasions this season, the ground can also be known for being rather inhospitable to those who wear Everton’s famous colours.

Conclusion

When it comes to the Premier League odds for relegation, Everton’s would have lengthened after events in the past week or so and if they can get the better of Leicester, it will only increase their chances of survival further.

quotes
While when it comes to Leicester, backing them for a top-ten finish could be considered as a rather astute bet. Then again, if you were looking to back the Foxes, then their efforts in the Europa Conference League may be a better direction of travel.
