Chelsea vs Brentford in the Premier League on Apr 2. 2022 - Odds & Prediction

As the protracted sale of Chelsea continues, all manager Thomas Tuchel can do right now is concentrate on the fixtures ahead of him and although a top-four finish looks likely, it is not secure just yet.

While the same could also be said for Brentford’s survival status and although their plight has improved in the past couple of weeks, there is still some work for Thomas Frank and his players to do.

Chelsea To Win By Two

With Chelsea winning each of their last five league outings, they will be clear favourites to extend that run to six and this does not mean good news for Brentford fans or those who try and find the value.

However, a look across all the latest Premier League odds has led me to one market in particular and with Brentford known for conceding at least a pair of goals in defeat, I think the same may happen on Saturday.

Which is why I have opted for Chelsea to win by a margin of two goals - which means a 2-0, 3-1 or even 4-2 win is good enough for betting success and if that is the case, a reward of 3/1 with LeoVegas will be just around the corner.

Chelsea Form, squad news, opinion

Considering Chelsea are in a state of flux right now, their season is far from over and although any bid to win the Premier League has long since sailed, they are still a going concern in both the FA Cup and the Champions League.

Not only that but Chelsea will still need to earn a Champions League insurance policy of their own and although it would be easy to suggest that the Blues can now drop down a notch in terms of performance, that is not something that their manager will allow.

Especially as momentum generated in the league can then be harvested for continual progress in cups and with starting roles also at a premium, nobody wants to drop out of favour at this point of the campaign.

Which is why Chelsea will be fully focused for Saturday’s task in hand and after securing safe passage to the FA Cup Semi-finals before the international break, the Blues will look to build on such an impressive showing.

Admittedly it may have been against an outfit from the Championship, but at the same time Middlesbrough had already knocked out both Manchester United and Tottenham and by avoiding that potential banana skin, Chelsea are back to concentrating on football matters.

In terms of injuries and suspensions for the visit of Brentford, there is only one ongoing issue for manager Thomas Tuchel to deal with and that is the continued absence of England defender Ben Chilwell.

Brentford Form, squad news, opinion

Although defeat to Leicester before the international break halted their progress, there is no doubt that Brentford have eased their relegation woes and that came courtesy of two hugely important wins beforehand.

A pair that came against Norwich at Carrow Road and Burnley at the Brentford Community Stadium and with Christian Eriksen pulling the strings in both, the arrival of the Dane has given his new club a huge boost.

A boost that was missing against Leicester, as the former Tottenham and Inter Milan star was out through illness and with the supply line for teammate Ivan Toney being cut short the Bees failed to sting the Foxes.

With that said, they start this weekend lying eight points from safety and with the same amount likely needed to secure a second stint in the Premier League, even one would be very useful on Saturday.

Ultimately the short trip to Stamford Bridge will be more akin to a free roll of the dice and with a meeting against one of the Premier League’s big boys unlikely to define their survival bid, it is what they do in the following weeks that will.

In terms of injuries and suspensions for the trip to Chelsea, Brentford manager Thomas Frank has no issues at the time of writing and this means he will be able to call upon compatriot Christian Eriksen once again.

History

Although this might not be the most heated of West London derbies, local bragging rights are still up for grabs when these two teams meet and more often than not, it is Chelsea who come out on top.

While the only meeting that the two have had in the Premier League was a 1-0 win for Chelsea at the Brentford Community Stadium, as Eduoard Mendy made a string of great saves to help the Blues earn all three points.

In terms of their overall head-to-head record, Chelsea have won on 10 occasions, Brentford 4 and there have been 2 draws

About the Venue

With COVID-19 restrictions being lifted in England, it means there is no longer the need to show a Vaccine Passport before attending the ground. Which means, match tickets are the only item that is required to be produced at the time of writing.

Conclusion

When looking at the odds for a Premier League top-four finish, Chelsea are almost a certainty in the eyes of the bookmakers and at such a short price, there is very little value to be found here.

While when it comes to backing Brentford in the relegation market, their price has lengthened considerably in the past month and there are teams that are currently in a far greater state of danger.
