Burnley vs Wolves in the Premier League on Apr 24.2022 - Odds & Prediction

Burnley vs Wolves in the Premier League on Apr 24.2022 - Odds & Prediction

As Burnley continue their attempt to retain their Premier League status, they once again do so without a Sean Dyche successor at the time of writing and with no plan in place, it means the Clarets’ task has now become even tougher.

While this Sunday will be no easier, as they play host to Wolves and with Bruno Lage now knowing that a top-seven finish could be good enough for European football next season, they will look for maximum points at the weekend.

Wolves And Under 2.5 Total Goals

If there is one thing that clearly connects Burnley and Wolves, it is their lack of goals this season and although the latter have been helped out by a solid defence, the same cannot be said about the former.

Which is something that I have considered when looking at the biggest betting sites online and with Wolves the slight favourites to come out on top on Sunday, I am going to add a bit more to my Turf Moor tip.

Which means my pursuit of added value takes me to the over/under market and I think that not only Bruno Lage’s men will win, but there will also be under 2.5 total goals and if you also think this will be the case, you can join me in backing this at odds of 4/1(Unibet).

Burnley Form, squad news, opinion

Although it has been known for clubs to gamble at this stage of the Premier League season, Burnley’s owners may have taken the biggest gamble of all and after sacking Sean Dyche, they must now navigate the Clarets to the end of the campaign.

However, there seems to be very little in terms of planning and with no permanent or even interim successor installed as yet, the gamble that Burnley’s owners have taken are now steeped in even higher stakes.

Admittedly there was something of a new manager bounce by the time Burnley travelled to West Ham last weekend and although they were good value for their point on the road, they should have arguably earned all three.

Because there should be no forgetting that Maxwell Cornet’s penalty was nothing short of dreadful and if the Clarets do end up relegated by a margin of one or two points, then his effort from 12 yards will stick in the minds of many.

However, those same minds must now focus on the upcoming task ahead and that is the visit of a Wolves side who are hungry for European football - a task that is going to go a long way to deciding Burnley’s fate at the end of the season.

In terms of injuries and suspensions for the visit of Wolves, the injuries are now starting to stack up and this means as many as four players may be absent at the weekend. Which means with Ashley Westwood definitely out until next season, he looks set to be joined by Ben Mee, Erik Peters and Johann Gudmundsson on the treatment table.

Wolves Form, squad news, opinion

As Wolves lie dormant in midweek, they will be hoping that a handful of results go their way and if they do, then it will give their European charge a substantial boost before the weekend’s action begins.

Because with eight clubs hunting down seven European berths at the end of the season, there unfortunately has to be an odd team out and at the time of writing, Wolves are in that unwanted position.

Something that Bruno Lage will look to rectify in the final few weeks of the season and after suffering a 1-0 defeat away at Newcastle in their last outing, Wolves will also be looking to return to winning ways.

While it is fair to say that their form has been somewhat indifferent as of late and perhaps more importantly at just the worst point of the campaign, as they have lost three of their last three Premier League matches.

However, there are still plenty of reasons to keep going and with Manchester United looking shell shocked after Tuesday and West Ham ready to focus fully on the Europa League, a top-seven finish is still not out of the equation.

In terms of injuries and suspensions for the trip to Burnley, there is only one concern for manager Bruno Lage to deal with and this is the foot injury that is currently troubling forward Daniel Podence.

History

When it comes to the history of Burnley and Wolves, it is the weekend visitors who have come out on top more often than not and with Bruno Lage’s men still hunting for a European berth, they will hope that the weight of history helps them on Sunday.

pointer right
In terms of their overall head-to-head record, Burnley have won on 40 occasions, Wolves 66 and there have been 30 draws.

About the Venue

Turf Moor opened in 1883 and holds up to 21,994 supporters.

When it comes to Burnley’s home of Turf Moor, it is often considered as one of the most inhospitable grounds in the Premier League and although has been the case in the past, it is seemingly not the case this season.

Because the roar that is usually found from the home supporters has been rather muted this season and if they cannot find their voice on Sunday afternoon, it might just play into Wolves’ hands.

Conclusion

When it comes to the outright odds for Premier League relegation, Burnley still find themselves as one of the favourites to go down and they will need a win on Sunday to alleviate their current situation.

quotes
While for Wolves, they are still a rather tempting price when it comes to the without big six market and if they can get the better of Burnley on Sunday, they will also still be in the hunt for European football.
