As far as these two teams are concerned, they are playing for nothing more than a top-ten finish and although this will have an air of dead rubber attached to it, neither Brighton nor Southampton will be prepared to throw the towel in just yet.
Which means with both the Seagulls and Saints still finding a level of impetus between now and the final day of the Premier League season, this clash may just be a little more interesting than you think.

Both these teams have top-ten aspirations, both these teams are on something of an upward swing after a period of going backwards and with these two teams being rather alike, it may be hard to break the deadlock on Sunday.
Something that I have taken into consideration when looking at all the biggest and best online betting sites and with the pair of Brighton and Southampton aiming for the same prize, stalemate could be on the weekend agenda.

Before Brighton’s trip to Manchester City in midweek, they have managed to earn seven points from the last nine on offer and when you consider their haul has primarily come at the hands of both Tottenham and Arsenal, it has been a rather impressive streak for the Seagulls.
One that has just added a level of impetus to what was a floundering campaign and with a top-half finish now back on the agenda, Graham Potter will look to make sure that his players reach such a target.
A target that looked a lot more like a destination before Christmas and with Brighton almost threatening to break through the European glass ceiling at one stage, their rapid decline was of huge disappointment.
With that said, Potter and his players have never wavered in their darkest days and even though positive results were in short supply, the quality of football on offer was still of a rather high standard.
Now though, Brighton have clawed their way out of the rut they previously found themselves in and with prize money being of huge benefit to the club, they will want to finish as high up the Premier League table as possible.
Just a week or so ago, many were accusing Southampton of simply being on the beach. Out of the FA Cup, a downturn in the Premier League, thrashed 6-0 at home by Chelsea, simply nothing to play for.
Then again, that large majority were seemingly wrong and after getting the better of Arsenal last weekend, the Saints have found an element of impetus to their season - one that was certainly lacking just weeks before.
Admittedly Southampton have achieved their primary target and that is securing Premier League survival and any drop off in performance, can at least be mitigated by such a circumstance.
With that said, manager Ralph Hasenhuttl will not want to simply make up the numbers in the Premier League and with this club also having ambitions of breaking the European glass ceiling, they must be seen to be making progress.
Because without that, the ambition that the Saints hang on is that and nothing more and if they can finish in the top-ten come the end of the season, it will at least show that they are marching in the right direction.
When it comes to the history of Brighton and Southampton, it is the Saints who have come out on top more often than not. While with the two now contesting their recent battles in the Premier League, this is a rivalry that is starting to get a little more intense.
The AMEX Stadium opened in 2011 and holds up to 31,800 supporters
The AMEX is one of the newer constructions within the confines of the Premier League and with it also hosting England Under-21 internationals in the past, it is also highly regarded by those within the Football Association.
While the construction of the stadium is also symbolic of Brighton’s progress as a football club and when you consider that 25 years ago, they did not even have a ground of their own, The AMEX is a welcome sight for all Brighton’s supporters.
When it comes to the Premier League outright odds, the only thing that will be of interest to both Brighton and Southampton will be the top-ten finish market and with both clubs going through a small revival of fortunes, this is a rather obtainable target.
