Barcelona vs Sevilla in La Liga on Apr 3. 2022 - Odds & Prediction

Barcelona vs Sevilla in La Liga on Apr 3. 2022 - Odds & Prediction

Barcelona will still be on cloud nine after a statement 4-0 win over Real Madrid before the international break. It rubber stamped just how far they’ve come in such a short space of time under club legend Xavi, and it also kept their faint title hopes alive.

The current La Liga betting odds have Barcelona at 16/1 (bet365) to win the Spanish top flight this season. They sit in 3rd, 12 points behind Real Madrid, but they do have a game in hand.

Just above Barcelona in the table are their opponents in this one, Sevilla. Julen Lopetegui’s side didn’t have a great time of things in March, considering they were winless in the league and they got knocked out of the Europa League by West Ham. The visitors have a tough assignment here too, taking on such an in-form Barcelona side, so it’s no surprise to see them as 6/1 outsiders (SportNation).

Barcelona To Win To Nil

After such a relentless performance that saw them smash four past Real Madrid, it’s hard to go against Barcelona getting another three points.

Coupled with Sevilla being a bit out of sorts over the last month, and the fact that the Catalan giants have been on a hot streak for some time now, a home win looks even more appealing.

The 1/2 available on a win for the hosts looks a solid addition to any weekend acca, but to get a bit more value it looks worth dabbling into another market. Since his arrival, not only has Xavi made Barcelona tick again going forward but he’s made them more solid at the back. Barca have kept a clean sheet in four of their last six games in all competitions.

Sevilla, on the other hand, haven’t really been firing in front of goal of late. They’ve managed just four goals in their last seven outings, and they’ve hit blanks in three of their last four matches on their travels.

So, a Barcelona To Win To Nil at 6/4 (888sport) looks a strong betting pick for this clash.

Barcelona Form, squad news, opinion

Barcelona’s resurgence prior to El Clasico was impressive in itself, but to win 4-0 at the Santiago Bernabeu really put the cherry on the top of Xavi’s reign thus far - they’re now unbeaten in their last thirteen La Liga games.

It’s night and day when you compare how they were playing at the beginning of the season under Ronald Koeman, and all of their January recruits seemed to have settled in very nicely.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang netted a brace against Real Madrid, taking his Barcelona total to nine goals in the eleven appearances he’s made so far.

The hosts have six names on the absentee list for this one; Nico Gonzalez, Sergino Dest, Abde Ezzalzouli, Alex Balde, Ansu Fati and Sergi Roberto.

Sevilla Form, squad news, opinion

Overall, it’s been a brilliant La Liga campaign for Sevilla up to this point, and they’re well on their way to securing Champions League qualification once again.

They’ve drawn all of their last five away league games but playing against this Barcelona team certainly represents a tough challenge.

The visitors have lacked much conviction lately, but they are on a fifteen-game unbeaten stretch in the league, and that run says a lot about what this Sevilla team are about. Lopetegui’s men are a solid unit, and they certainly have it in them to keep Barcelona honest and frustrate them for periods of the game.

Sevilla have several players who could miss this one through injury, including Thomas Delaney, Rafael Mir, Marcos Acuna, Alejandro Dario Gomez, Suso and Karim Rekik.

The two have met a total of 68 times in the past, with Barcelona winning 41 of those meetings, and Sevilla just 13.

It’s been fairly even results-wise between the sides in all competitions over the last few years, but you have to go back to 2015 for Sevilla’s last La Liga victory over Barcelona.

It was a stalemate when the pair met earlier this campaign, with the points being shared after a 1-1 draw at the Roman Sanchez-Pizjuan Stadium.

About the Venue

The iconic Camp Nou is the largest stadium in Europe, and the fourth largest in the world, with its maximum capacity of 99,354.

Its ‘bowl style’ reaches towering heights - with three different tiers of seating - and it’s usually filled with plenty of colour on matchdays.

If they manage anything close to the display they put in, in the El Clasico, then Barcelona should be winning this one without much issue.

Sevilla are 2nd in the table and unbeaten in fifteen league games with good reason, but they have drawn a good chunk of matches lately and this is one of the toughest places to go to in the division. They should remain competitive, but their toothless stretch in front of goal will likely mean Barcelona will prove too strong for them overall.
