After everything was looking so rosey in the Xavi era of Barcelona, the Catalan giants have been brought back down to earth a bit in recent weeks. Defeat in the Europa League to Eintracht Frankfurt, and back-to-back 1-0 defeats at home, have outlined the fact there’s still a bit of work to be done for the hosts.
This looks a good opportunity for them to get out of the mini slump they’re in at the Camp Nou, but given they lost to lowly Cadiz earlier this month, they certainly can’t take Mallorca lightly here.
The visitors are currently hovering above the relegation zone, so they still have plenty to fight for from now until the end of the campaign.
As expected, Barcelona are favourites for this one at 1/3 (Betfair) , with Mallorca 8/1 (Ladbrokes) outsiders.
Read on for our full match preview and the best football predictions for the game.
Barcelona’s drop in form makes this a tough one to predict. On paper, you expect them to have too much for a struggling Mallorca side, but the visitors are fighting for their La Liga status at the bottom of the table.
Xavi’s men have fired blanks in their last two outings at the Camp Nou too, and with that sharp conviction in front of goal seemingly lacking at the moment for Barcelona, there’s value in backing Mallorca to keep things close.
That might not sound too convincing of a play when you realise Mallorca have lost their last eight away games across all competitions, but five of them were only by a one-goal deficit.
Los Piratas will be high on confidence given they’ve won two of their last three matches - including a 1-0 win over Atletico Madrid.
And they’ll feel if they can follow a similar blueprint to Cadiz and Rayo Vallecano before them, they can get something from this game.

There’s no doubt Barcelona look to have a bright future under Xavi, but the last few weeks certainly highlight there’s still a good few areas that the Camp Nou legend needs to work on.
Defeats at home to Cadiz and Rayo Vallecano aren’t what the Barcelona faithful expect from their side, and this game certainly fits in the category of an expected win too.
Obviously, football is never that straightforward, though, and in both of those previously mentioned losses, the Catalonians had difficulties converting their strong possession numbers into goals.
Rayo Vallecano’s only shot on target was the difference in their last game, and Barca be looking to avoid a similar story here. It won’t be easy, though, as Mallorca have plenty of fight about them.
This is one of the toughest remaining games on Mallorca’s schedule, but after straight 1-0 defeats at home, it probably isn’t a bad time to play Barcelona.
Los Piratas have managed to claw their way out of trouble over the last few weeks with important wins over Atletico Madrid and fellow strugglers Alaves.
They now sit two points above the drop zone, and anything they pick up here will be a big bonus for them heading into a huge clash against Granada next week.
This is the 38th meeting between the sides. Barcelona have the edge on the head-to-head record with 25 victories to Mallorca’s seven.
The Camp Nou is one of the most iconic stadiums in world football. With a capacity of 99,354, it’s the largest stadium in Europe, and the fourth largest in the world.
Its ‘bowl style’ reaches towering heights - with three different tiers of seating - and it’s usually filled with plenty of vibrancy on matchdays.
Expect Barcelona to see a good chunk of the ball, and Mallorca to play on the counter. The deciding factor will be what sort of chances the hosts can fashion from their likely superiority in the possession department.
