Arsenal vs Leicester in the Premier League on Mar 13. 2022 - Odds & Prediction

Arsenal vs Leicester in the Premier League on Mar 13. 2022 - Odds & Prediction

Back-to-back league wins have certainly eased the pressure on Brendan Rodgers and although a maximum return from Burnley and Leeds was welcomed, Leicester would still have been expected to win both.

While perhaps the same cannot be said for Sunday’s trip to Arsenal and with the Gunners firing on all cylinders, this will be a tricky task for a Leicester side that is currently languishing in mid-table.

Arsenal & Over 2.5 Total Goals

Going into Sunday’s clash at the Emirates, Arsenal have won eight of their last ten Premier League outings and it is this run of form that has not only moved them up the table, but it also makes them considerable favourites at the weekend.

Which means after looking at the biggest and best betting sites online, there are few markets that have taken my fancy and in terms of decent value, I think an addition to an Arsenal win is necessary.

An addition that comes in the shape of an Arsenal win and over 2.5 total goals in North London. Something that is currently paying odds of 6/5 with bet365 and I think it is definitely worth some serious consideration.

Arsenal Form, squad news, opinion

Points on the board or games in hand? That was the dilemma earlier in the season. Now though, it seems as if Arsenal have cracked the code and they have done so, by earning more points while playing less matches than their top-four rivals.

Something that puts them in the driving seat as far as qualification for next season’s Champions League is concerned and although they do have a difficult run of fixtures on the horizon, they are certainly doing the right thing beforehand.

Because you can only beat the teams which are in front of you and that is exactly what Arsenal have done as of late and with four successive league wins under their belt, it is they who now find themselves lying 4th in the standings.

A position that they secured on Sunday due to a combination of factors and with their win over Watford secured beforehand, manager Mikel Arteta and his players had the luxury of watching Manchester United get thrashed by Manchester City hours after.

Which means the status quo has now changed and with Manchester United playing host to Tottenham this weekend, one or both these sides will drop points in their own bid to qualify for next season’s Champions League. Something that Arsenal could take full advantage of.

In terms of injuries and suspensions for the visit of Leicester, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta can call upon a clean bill of health and this will be a considerable boost before they welcome the Foxes on Sunday.

Leicester Form, squad news, opinion

There is no doubt that it has been a good week for Leicester and earning a slender win over Leeds on Saturday, it is fair to say that the Foxes are once again looking up the Premier League table.

While courtesy of their recent league wins over the relegation-threatened pair of Burnley and Leeds, there is also a considerable amount of distance between themselves and the bottom three.

Which means the only domestic focus that Leicester have between now and the end of the season, is to finish as high up the table as possible and although they ended the weekend lying 12th, they will still have designs on a top-half finish.

Designs that could be changed if Leicester’s run in the Europa Conference League is a long one and if the Foxes can make it all the way to the final, do not be surprised if key men are rested in the Premier League.

Because although that competition is much maligned, it will at least offer a backdoor invite to next season’s Europa League and with the current position that Leicester are in, they cannot afford to turn that down.

In terms of injuries and suspensions for the trip to Leicester, the queue for treatment at the King Power has now got slightly shorter and although Jamie Vardy has recently returned, manager Brendan Rodgers is still without defenders Wesley Fofana and Jonny Evans.

When it comes to the history of these two teams, their rivalry was at its most intense during 2016 and with Leicester winning the Premier League title that season, Arsenal had to make do with second.

In terms of their overall head-to-head record, Arsenal have won on 69 occasions, Arsenal 33 and there have been 45 draws

About the Venue

The Emirates has been home to some incredible nights over the past few seasons and although the Gunners have misfired from time to time, their supporters are still capable of making plenty of noise when it matters.

With COVID-19 restrictions being lifted in England, it means there is no longer the need to show a Vaccine Passport before attending the ground. Which means, match tickets are the only item that is required to be produced at the time of writing.

When it comes to the top-four finish market, Arsenal are now the favourites of the chasing pack and although odds of 8/15 look tempting as an investment, it might be worth sitting back on this for another week or two.

When it comes to the Premier League top-ten finish market, Leicester will certainly be one of the contenders for a value bet. Then again, with Southampton and Crystal Palace in better form, your money is likely placed elsewhere.
