These two teams featured in two different types of game last weekend, but both found a way to win.
The Bengals featured in a slow, low-scoring contest against the Tennessee Titans, winning the game with a field goal at the end.
For the Chiefs, it was a game that many of us will never forget, an overtime victory over the Buffalo Bills, a game that had one of the most exciting fourth quarters we have ever seen.
This is the AFC Championship game, and here are our thoughts on what will happen on Sunday night.
This game looks like being a real shootout. The Bengals should have more time to score - Joe Burrow was sacked nine times by the Tennessee Titans last week, but it is highly unlikely the Chiefs will be able to put much pressure on him this weekend.
The game looks set to be high-scoring, but the scoring lines and the touchdown lines are set very high on the game, so from a betting point of view, the best move is to separate out the Bengals, who are the underdogs.
If this game goes to plan for the Chiefs, they are going to be ahead, and the Bengals will have to open up and try to catch them. This is exactly what Burrow likes to do, and the situations where we have seen him at his best in the past.
We think the Chiefs will win this, but when it comes to betting and points scoring, we like the Bengals to get plenty on the board, as they chase the game and Burrow throws long.
Our top tip for this one is the Bengals to score over 24 points in the game, available at 13/10 with bet365.
The Tennessee Titans had no trouble getting to Burrow last weekend, and the Bengals have to stop that from happening again. He was sacked nine times, as his offensive lineman failed to stop the constant onslaught the Titans threw at him.
The Chiefs are not as aggressive when defending, so won’t try to get him as much as the Titans did, but the Bengals have to protect him more than they did.
If they are to have a chance of winning this game, Burrow needs to beat Patrick Mahomes. That may be an impossible task for him anyway, but if he’s feeling the effects of a few hits on the night, then his chances diminish even further.
The line in front of the Bengals needs to hold and could be one of the main keys to how this game is settled.
The Buffalo Bills were excellent last weekend against the Kansas City Chiefs, and on top of that, their quarterback Josh Allen played one of the best games of his career. It still wasn’t enough to go into Kansas and come out with a win, so is there any way to stop Mahomes and the Chiefs?
The Bills did everything asked of them. Their offensive group scored points and the defence stopped Mahomes a few times. But it still wasn’t enough.
The Bengals need to believe they deserve to be in this game, rather than looking at the opposition in awe.
As for Mahomes, he simply needs to replicate what we’ve seen from him recently. His play has gone to a new level, and the AFC Championship game is familiar territory for him. He needs to use that experience wisely and if he does that, we’re not sure anyone can stop him.
