Tottenham v Southampton Betting Tips & Predictions

Armed with several new players, Spurs get their 2022-23 Premier League season under way at home to Southampton on Saturday.

There are high hopes for Spurs this term after securing a top-four spot at the end of last season.

Antonio Conte has been given a reinforced squad with numerous high-profile arrivals, and his side are odds on to win their season opener against Southampton on Saturday afternoon.

Saints have also spent considerably this summer, with the new owners making youth a clear priority.

To Win To Nil: Tottenham

13/10 (Unibet)

Southampton were abysmal on the road in 2021-22, winning just three of 19 matches. Tottenham, meanwhile, were the third-best team in the Premier League after hiring Antonio Conte.

Already impressive under Conte, Spurs should be even more formidable this season with a raft of summer acquisitions and having had a full, gruelling pre-season with the Italian in charge.

Only relegated Watford scored fewer than Southampton from the start of March until the end of last season, while Liverpool were the only team to concede fewer than Spurs over the same time period.

A victory to nil is a great value wager at 13/10.

Anytime Goalscorer: Harry Kane

21/20 (Coral)

Harry Kane is generally a good place to start when looking for an anytime goalscorer wager.

Kane started 2021-22 slowly after trying to force a move to Manchester City, but his form picked up under Conte.

Five goals in five matches to finish the campaign took the England international to 17 in the league. He’s also been prolific against Southampton, finding the net 11 times in 14 Premier League matchups.

To Be Shown A Card: Oriol Romeu

11/5 (Unibet)

Shown nine yellow yards in 2021-22, Oriol Romeu is the favourite to be booked anytime.

The Spaniard has reached double figures in cards in three Premier League seasons.

Spurs are at their most dangerous when attacking on the break, and it might only take one counter-stopping foul for Romeu to go into the referee’s notebook.

Romeu was booked when he faced Spurs in February, and this is a good price for the former Chelsea man to receive a caution on Saturday.
