Unable to establish a run of consistent form in the Premier League, Liverpool have won just twice since August.
Their record at home is stellar, and they are facing a Leeds side with just two points picked up from their last eight matches. Jesse Marsch is under severe pressure ahead of this trip to Anfield.
Jurgen Klopp has another injury to deal with after Jordan Henderson went off in the week. Leeds could be without Tyler Adams.
Total Goals: Under 3.5
The bookies are expecting plenty of goals here, with the line set at 3.5.
Leeds’ games haven’t been as high-scoring as their free-flowing reputation suggests, however, and Liverpool have seen a total of four goals across their last three home matches in all competitions.
These sides have each gone under 2.5 total goals in five of their 11 Premier League fixtures. Even with Leeds coming off a five-goal classic against Fulham, a very high-scoring game seems unlikely in this one.
Anytime Goalscorer: Darwin Nunez
The eye-catching shot numbers and impressive expected goals marks always suggested Darwin Nunez’s slow start was just a finishing slump. It has proven to be just that.
The Uruguayan has scored in each of his last four starts, firing off 12 shots over those matches.
Direct, physical and unafraid to shoot from unconventional spots, Nunez is a nightmare for defenders at the moment.
A Leeds team low on confidence will struggle against him.
First Team Booking: Leeds
Liverpool will fly at Leeds from the first whistle with a lively Anfield crowd under the lights.
Desperate to bounce back from their loss to Forest, the hosts could overwhelm Leeds in the opening minutes.
Leeds have almost double as many cards as Liverpool this season, and will spend much of this match chasing the ball. It is a no-brainer for Marsch’s team to be booked first.
